Dear Journal~
I am about to fall over from pure exhaustion...the kids have kept me on my toes all week, and I am more than ready for mom and daddy to return home from Greece! (They will be back sometime tomorrow afternoon; they went to Greece for a wedding.)
This is Barbara writing. I have been busy, what with school and trying to get my homework finished, dealing with a herd of active, energetic kids, and trying to keep some semblence of order in the Sandusky household! Not easy to do with over 45 kids; but at least I had Steffi, Anh, and grandpere' and grandmere' Moliere' helping! This is no job for one person; it takes a Herculian effort to manage four dozen plus kids!
I must have been successful because we haven't had to call an ambulance on any of the kids, and the house is still standing in one piece. But you try to handle forty plus kids, considering that a good portion of them are disabled! YIKES! Besides the normal every day kid worries (clean clothes, feeding them, bathing them, and so forth, and also making sure that they do their homework or don't kill one another), you also have to worry about medication schedules, the ever present worry of the possibility of some type of medical emergency, tube feedings, cleaning out tracheostomies, clearing plugged lungs, administering oxygen and hooking kids up to breathing equipment, putting on braces and corsets, making sure that their medical equipment is still in good working order, and making sure that no problems develop; and if they do, one should best be ready to deal with them.
I now know why I don't want to be a nurse...there's too much stress and worry involved, and whenever an emergency occurs, things always tend to fall apart. I don't know how mom does it; I'd be pulling out my hair or panicking (whichever comes first)! I'd much rather be a football player or go into journaling or something of that nature!
Anyway, we heard from mom and daddy: they had a wonderful time with Sari and her (now) husband, Nikolas, and they said that the wedding was absolutely beautiful. They said they got us some things from Greece, and they said that they missed us terribly. But I don't know how mom is going to take that she has more email; I checked her email (without reading the content), and it looks like her box is full of mail; so it looks like she will be stuck at the computer for a while when she gets online! They managed to weather the week without getting sick, but mom said she thinks she must have gained ten pounds from porking out on all that Greek food! LOL She also said that the weather was hot and sunny but one day (the day before the wedding; on the evening before the wedding it rained, but it cleared up in plenty of time before the wedding), and that the Greek people treated them wonderfully well. She said she met Nikolas' cousins and friends, and she said that they were as nice as Nikolas, and that they really took to them. She said she saw Nikolas' sister, Athena, and she looked great; but she was still embarrassed about being in a wheelchair. (She was shot last year while on a jog; she is now permanently paralyzed. She lives here in Nashville, and mom took care of her while she was in the hospital.)
I tried to talk to Trent over the weekend, but he never returned my call, the weasel. I guess he is still mad about us breaking up (I don't blame him; I am not too happy with him either!); but right now, I miss him. I wish he was here with me; I could use someone to talk to BESIDES little kids! I did go to church yesterday (granpy and gramy took us), but it was boring without mom and daddy being there! But two of my friends from school DID get saved, so I am happy about that!
Well, Journal, not much is going on, so I will write more later. I have to check in on Jodie; she was sick earlier with a stomach virus, and she was throwing up. I hope she is feeling better...it's always worrisome when she gets sick...I also have to see if Johnny is over his funk; there is nothing worse than a bored, depressed kid...I also have to check on Ronee'; she is bummed out as well about her impending surgery next month (or at least, she WAS!)...
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend, Barbara. :)
