Dear Ma'am~
I read both of your books, "A Family Made out of Miracles and Rainbows" and its sequel, "...And The Miracles Continue", and after reading your books, I felt compelled to write to you, plus I need some questions answered.
First of all, I must say that I am not a very religious person (I am an athiest), but I still tried to read your story, and what I read prompted me to write to you.
Secondly of all, I was wondering why you took in so many tragic kids into your family and why you and your husband went overboard. Why did you adopt kids who are handicapped instead of kids who were healthy? How do you manage to feed and clothe over four dozen kids without ending up in the poorhouse? How do you manage to work AND raise such a rediculously huge group of children? How do you find time to get anything accomplished?
Why couldn't you have adopted just a few kids instead of such a great number? FIFTY-TWO kids?? Isn't that a bit too much?? What on earth were you THINKING when you adopted fifty plus kids?
I don't mean to sound harsh or unfriendly, but I am wondering if you are exploiting these children instead of letting them be kids. You say your kids perform in a group every so often. That is great if they enjoy it, but I wonder if that is what they really want to do in life. It's like you are putting them on display, and it makes me quite uncomfortable to think about it. I guess I feel this way because I and my husband, Wayne, tried to have kids when we were younger, but we were unable to, and when we tried to adopt, we were met with only heartbreak. We never did have any kids, and we are still living out our unhappy lives together as a childless couple. Now I am afraid that we are too old to have kids; we are in our sixties now, senior citizens.
The whole process of adoption is great if you enjoy that sort of thing, but frankly, we aren't interested any longer, and I found both of your books to be quite sugary-sweet for my more refined tastes, and your adopting so many kids concerns me. I tried to read your books with an open conscience, but I was quite disappointed.
I hope you understand my feelings and concerns, but I wanted to share my views with you. You seem like an open, honest, well-rounded individual who is obviously doing good for the throwaway children of our society, and after reading your story, I had to respond.
Any answers to the above questions I raised would be very much appreciated, and I hope you don't take what I said in this letter to you the wrong way.

P.S.: Have thee been any adoptions that failed for you? How did you feel about those kids whom you planned on adopting, but in the end, the adoptions failed?

I'm in agreement with Eileen; what will Louisiana's response be? Most of the feedback she's gotten has been positive, but now Ellen throws a kink in the works. I, too, await Louie's response. Will everything be "happily ever after"?
