Louisiana tries to offer a new friend in Indiana some emotional support after Ellen and her husband, Wayne, have lost everything in a devastating house fire. She is sorry to hear of the news, but she is relieved that Ellen and Wayne managed to escape the fire without getting hurt.

Dear Ellen (and Wayne)~
Please accept my deepest, most heartfelt condolences on the loss of your home to the fire; how awful! I am so sorry this happened; please know that you will be lifted up in prayer! I really don't know WHAT to say except that I am sorry this happened; but I am gateful that you and Wayne both got out alive, without getting hurt! That is a MAJOR Miracle; God was watching out for the both of you!
Now, this may sound funny, but sometimes it takes something devastating like a family tragedy or something like September 11, 2001, to make a person realize that life IS precious, and it also makes a person realize that there IS a caring God out there. Sometimes God uses something like September 11, 2001, or the Oklahoma City Bombing or the Columbine high school shootings to make people take inventory of what is precious to them and change their lives for the better. I have seen it happen, with my very own eyes, not just in my OWN life, per se, but in the lives of others. I lost friends on September 11, 2001, and I also have lost a sister to an airplane crash (I also lost my nieces and brother-in-law in the same wreck; they were on vacation in Maine when the plane they were on went down), and I have lost my beloved mother to cancer, and I have lost all three of my own natural children (two died while still tiny infants, and the other died on what would have been his fourth birthday); so I know tragedy and heartbreak firsthand. While each situation WAS devastating in their own right, each situation has made me a stronger, more caring person, and whenever one of my friends or family members are hurting, I HURT right along with them. So you are NOT alone in this.
When I saw your email, I cried, and I got down on my knees and just started praying. I am so happy you are okay and that you and Wayne weren't injured! I will have my church family pray for you, and if there is anything, ANYTHING at all, that you may need, please DON'T hesitate to contact me! I will help in any way I can! If you or your husband need clothes, I can get some old (gently) used clothes packed in a box and have it shipped directly to you, and I will also send some canned goods and maybe even some cash, just to help you survive this uncertain time. I will have my church family get involved in these relief efforts, and we will see to it that you and Wayne have everything you need!
Again, Ellen, please do accept my condolences, and know that you have people who care for you and want to help. No, your letter does NOT have ANYTHING to do with the fire; sometimes these things just happen, unexpectedly, out of the blue, and when it does, you are always left stunned, but God will help you and Wayne in your time of need; and He will NEVER leave you..EVER.., no matter WHAT you may be facing as a result of the fire--or otherwise! All you have to do is call out to Him; He WILL help you, and you have my word on that. He has helped me during my darkest hours; and He will most certainly help you. He is as real as I am, and even though you may not see Him physically, He IS there, and He IS real!
God bless you, Ellen and Wayne, and again, if there is anything you need, please don't hesitate to reach me. I will be enclosing my phone number and my email addy on a seperate piece of paper; that way, we can always be in touch. Again, I am sorry for your loss, but I AM grateful that you and your husband got out okay!
