Dear Louisa~
Well, now! Seems that life is treating you and your friend, Kendra, well; that is so wonderful to hear! I am happy that you may be getting your new Sri Lankan child before the year is out; that is terrific news! Congratulations! As for Kendra, you will have to send me a picture of her "with child"; I bet she and the girls are thrilled to pieces! I am so happy for her; tell her congratulations, and tell her that we are still lifting her up in prayer!
Thank you, too, for the prayers for Johnny and Ronee'. They are both coping as best as they can, but it is still hard with the prospect of hospital tests (as in Johnny's case) and impending hip replacement surgery (Ronee'). They were hoping to get through the summer without any more medical drama in their lives, but unfortunately, that doesn't look at all possible. Hopefully, Johnny's muscular dystrophy isn't worsening, and hopefully, Ronee' will sail through her hip replacement surgery without any complications whatsoever. She sailed right through her knee replacement surgery without a hitch, and she was walking quite well on her crutches before her hips started acting up. And she will need surgery on her hands sometime later this year, so she isn't having a good time of it physically. Well, Johnny and Ronee' send their love back to Rebekkah; they both wrote to her, and they are waiting for a reply from her.
The name of Sari's husband is Nikolas Artemis Constantinos. Now, is THAT a name or WHAT?? LOL I bet he had fun learning to spell it when he was learning how to write! LOL They just wrote to me, and they are madly in love with one another, and they are going on an African safari next week, to Kenya and Tanzania; they will be gone for ten days, and they are really looking forward to the trip. They may come to see us in the fall or winter after they are back in Finland, which is where Sari is from; but for the spring and summer, they are living in Athens, Greece.
Greece was absolutely breathtaking; we saw the Parthenon, the Acropolis, and the Olympic Village, among other tourist attractions, and the Greek people went out of their way to treat us with the hospitality and zest for life that they are known for, and I think Bill and I both gained twenty pounds from feasting on the Greek food! LOL My pants are a bit snug, and so are my tops! LOL (Me thinks it's time Louie goes on a diet....) We were in Greece for a week (NOT long enough!), and we had a wonderful time, but we ARE glad to be back home with the kids; we really missed them all!
My two newest children from Sri Lanka, Arjun and Rani, are settling in, and they are enjoying their time with their new brothers and sisters; and the kids have taken to them; and they are both learning English at an incredibly fast rate. Arjun is starting to talk now, and he can say about a dozen or so words, and Rani's English has improved considerably: every day she learns a new English word, and we think she may be gifted because she soaks up new information like a sponge. They are so cute, and they are both doing well with their health (Rani is still using her walker, but she is improving since starting physical and occupational therapy). She may graduate to crutches soon, she is doing that well.
I am sure that Ellen and Walter Jones would love to hear from you; but I must warn you: Ellen and Walter don't believe in God (they are athiests), but I think that they are starting to realize that God IS real, that He isn't a fluke; because it was GOD that got them both through the fire unharmed; and they managed to escape with just the clothes upon their backs. They are being assisted by the Red Cross and the Salvation Army, and I am sure that they will appreciate any support that they can get; they are both having a very hard time of it now on the emotional level. I just heard from her again, and I will have to write her too, as well as to Sari and Nikolas (and Deidre Brownwood, my friend here in Nashville). So the computer will be hummin' between kid checks and caring for them! LOL
I am off all weekend, and I have been enjoying it emmensely; but I am ready to get back to work. I miss my co-workers, and I even miss the BOSS, believe it or not! LOL But they are in for a huge surprise because I have NOT been using my cane AT all since recovering from my back surgery, and I have been walking UNAIDED, the first time in YEARS. I have not had any pain in my back (or any sciatic pain down my legs), and the surgery has already made a world of difference! I recently went to the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival just a few weeks back, and I even DANCED the Cajun two-step AND the Cajun waltz, which I hadn't been able to do since my back started giving me so many problems! It has been a MIRACLE, and I thank God for the renewed health that He has bestowed upon me! :) (My cane, and my crutches, if you must know, are in my closet, where they will STAY. :) )
Well, Louisa, I will go for now; the kids are hungry, and they are screaming for their breakfast. I will write more later. P.S.: Glad the weather has gotten nicer; here it is raining to beat the band, and we may have a chance of severe weather later. WONDERMOUS. Just what I did NOT want to hear! I HATE severe weather! Hope we get through the stormy period later on without any problems!
