The couple that lost everything in a devasating fire writes to Louisiana after Louisiana has sent them some clothes and other necessities to get them through the tragedy.

Dear Louie~
Thank you so much for the care package that you sent. We were quite surprised at all the stuff you sent. It may not help us entirely, nor it may never replace what we had lost in the fire, but it is a start, and we thank you for your love, prayers, and compassion. But how can you say that God allows things like September 11, 2001 to happen, or things like fires, wars, floods, or famine? Do you think He enjoys seeing people suffer? That is what I wonder, and it is no wonder that my wife and myself have trouble believing in something we can't see.
Yet, it is obvious to us that He is very real to you, and yet you refuse to allow tragedy alter you or your way of thinking. People like that drive us crazy; how can they POSSIBLY be happy when they are left without a husband, a parent, a child, or a friend? How can they go on loving life when life is so cruel? How can they be happy when a child of theirs is deemed "handicapped"? How can they be happy when their son or daughter is involved in drugs or crime or drinking? What is the purpose of being happy when life treats you like a bag of shit?
My wife and I have had a very hard time of it emotionally since the fire, and it seems that all we have done is cry. We don't have a place to live, and while we now have clothes and the basics of life, we still don't have a home, and until a place CAN be found for us, we are staying at a friend's house, and while we ARE grateful, we still feel like we are infringing in their lives, and it makes us feel guilty. My wife and I are plagued with nightmares, and we have not been able to eat, sleep, or even THINK.
But even though we may not agree on many issues, I still want to take the time to thank you for the package, and for the book. Is that book REALLY done by you? If so, you didn't tell me that you were a PUBLISHED AUTHOR! WOW! We will have to read it; but if it's one of those Christian books, I don't know if we can get through it; but we WILL try. All I CAN ask you is this: still continue to pray for us (even though that is going against our beliefs, but it still shows that you care); we would really appreciate it!
