Louisiana in Tennessee emails her stricken Texas friend, Hildago, after his wife passed on yesterday. As you can imagine, both Louie and Hildago are overcome with sadness at the news. Even with her own grief, she still tries to comfort her friend.

Dear Hildago~
I am so sorry to learn that Diane has died! How awful!! But I AM glad you were by her side when she passed on; I am sure that is what she would have probably wanted...I am also glad to know that she is no longer suffering, and I am glad that her death was peaceful!
I really don't know what to say, Hildago, but I want to offer you my deepest, most heartfelt sympathies! I wish I could be there for you, but unfortunately, that isn't the case. I CAN offer you my prayers, and I CAN send you a sympathy card (and flowers), just to let you know in my own small way that I am thinking of you during this incredibly sad time. I have only met Diane once, last summer, when you came to the AASK Adoption Picnic, and I really enjoyed meeting her, you, and the children. You were a beautiful family, and your wife was such a sweetheart! She is going to be missed by not only you and your family (and hers), but by us, the Sanduskys. Diane touched my life with her words and encouragement, and she was a warrior in the face of uncertainties and tragedy. She had such a strong, courageous spirit about her, and her faith in God was highly evident in her writings. I will be saving all her letters, and I will be thinking of her (and you) always!
I am sorry you had to see her in so much pain and suffering, but she is now at peace, and she is now with the Lord; and she will live on in your heart...as well as in mine. She was a special friend, and I am very happy that I had the chance to meet her! I was also very happy to have had the chance to meet you and your children! Even though it may sound strange for me to be saying this, I view this as a blessing in disquise because who knows? Maybe because of her, people can work harder to find a cure for cancer, and maybe because of her, people can read her words, if that is what you so wish. She was obviously a talented writer, and I am sure you wouldn't mind sharing her stories or poetry! Maybe if you put them into book format, the funds raised from future book sales could go directly to cancer research! What do you think?? There are plenty of ways to keep her spirit and memory alive, and you can be doing it in a positive, uplifting way!
I will most certainly be praying that things become easier for you and the children. Lord knows, you all need help in your time of need and grief! I hope that things become easier for y'all; y'all have been down the valley for so long, and it's time to come to the mountaintop! I just wish I knew what to say, but I only seem to be rambling on here, and I am probably not making much sense...but I am writing off the top of my head here, and if this sounds wordy, please do forgive me! But I am sorry to learn of her death, and I only wish I knew how to offer you more in the way of comfort!
Please let me know what funeral home she will be at, and let me know of the services. Also please give me your phone number, I can call you and keep in touch. Right now, you need a friend, and I am more than happy to be there for you, if not in the physical sense, but certainly in the spiritual sense!
Again, Hildago, please accept my deepest sympathies, and if there is anything, ANYTHING at all, that you need, don't hesitate to get in touch with me. God bless you all during this time of grief and sorrow, and may He give you a sense of peace and comfort during this time!
