Dear Sikik Grace~
Thank you so much for writing; it is so nice to have finally heard from you again! I was starting to wonder what was going on with you!
I am glad you are well (as is most of your family), but I was aggrieved to have learned of the passing of your father. Please accept my deepest, heartfelt sympathy wishes; and may God be with you during this sad and difficult part of your life! I was soryr to hear that he lost his battle with cancer! But now I am sure that he is at peace and is no longer suffering! I recently lost a friend to cancer myself (brain cancer), Diane Aguilar in Del Rio, Texas, and it has been so hard on her husband, Hildago. He did write to me, and I did write back to him, but he is understandably devastated, and I haven't heard from him since my last letter to him. I do hope (and pray) that he is okay!
My family is well, but my daughter, Ronee', had hip surgery about a month ago, and her recovery is still going very well. By this time next week, she should be back to using her forearm crutches instead of having to use the walker, and she is in very little pain. She was a little stiff last night from going to the festival yesterday, and she was so tired by the end of the day she fell asleep and MISSED THE FIREWORKS! Oh, she was so mad this morning! LOL I felt so bad for her; she was looking forward to the fireworks, and she goes ahead and falls asleep, and no matter how hard we tried, we could just NOT wake Ronee' up! LOL She was OUT!! LOL Johnny had tests recently too, but he did very well, surprisingly enough; and he hasn't had a seizure in over six months, the longest spate he has had between seizures. We seem to have finally found a combination of medications that have done the trick, and now it seems that he doesn't even HAVE seizures anymore! It has been a major blessing in his (and our) lives! His muscular dystrophy isn't getting any worse either, and that has been a HUGE answer to prayer!
Yes, Kendra has gotten her child from Sri Lanka..in fact, she got TWO children, sisters! Their names are Kellie and America, and they are both probably about five or six/seven years old; they are just little girls. I wrote to her, and am waiting for her response, to see how their Fourth of July holiday went. I was so happy to hear that she finally got the child she was waiting for! She also recently adopted a little girl with cerebral palsy, and her name is Chelsea. (Chelsea is American, by the way.)
I do plan on doing more books in the future. I love writing, and so far, writing has been very good to me. I do hope you consider writing a book; maybe you can write about the Inuit lifestyle, as viewed from the eyes of a young Inuk woman like yourself; that would make interesting reading. Or maybe you can collect different Inuk legends that you have heard and make it into one book for children; I bet they would be interested in reading about your beliefs or customs! Or maybe you can write about YOUR family, or you could write about the Northern Lights...there is a whole world to discover, and I bet you would make a terrific author! :) You already write well now with your letters; why put your writing into good use and make a book out of it? I bet there would be people willing to read what you have to say! :)
You ARE right about Jenna: she IS rather selfish. But she will learn that the world does NOT revolve around her, and she is going to have to learn that even though she IS disabled, she shouldn't let her disabilities rule her life, which is exactly what she is doing, plus she is thinking of only herself. She has a lot of growing up to do; it's no wonder she doesn't have a lot of friends. But I AM willing to be a friend to Jenna because I did take care of her when she needed me the most, and I DID support her, and I DID go to her wedding. I also gave her money or food when she needed it, and she DOES have a lot of problems, as you and I have just said. I will be calling her shortly; it's been a while since I heard from her, and I am a bit concerned about her...I don't like being around self-centered people myself, but all we CAN do is try to help them realize that, and try to be there for them when they are having a rough time of it.
Did you see any fireworks there in Barrow, or is it too cold to shoot them off? Do they even HAVE fireworks up THAT far north? I may sound stupid, but I don't know; that is why I am asking! Please do forgive me; I am just a dumb Cajun! LOL We saw lots of fireworks (but Ronee' didn't!), and we also went to the parade, and we heard some great music, too! Johnny performed, and he did quite well; he sang and played the piano, and the audience just loved him! He sang a lot of Ronnie Milsap songs, that is his favorite country singer, and he just LOVES his stuff! He also loves Mickey Gilley and Jerry Lee Lewis! Ronee' sang one song yesterday, but that was it; she was more interested in eating or riding the rides they had on the midway! She was also interested in the parade (she was in it, for one thing; she was on a float), and she HAD been interested in seeing the fireworks, but by the time they were to start, Ronee' fell asleep, and it was like she was in a COMA; we could NOT get her up for ANYTHING! LOL
