Louisiana responds to another letter from Audrey Jackson's oldest child, Susie, who is seven years old, after Susie wrote to her.

Dearest Susie~
Honey, I am so happy to have heard from you again, thank you so much for writing!
I wish you could be with your sisters, and sometimes certain things don't make sense, but you WILL see your sisters again when you get out of the hospital. I know you don't want to leave your mama (and who can blame you?), but her life may still be in danger, and Deb Anderson is only thinking of her (and your) best interest. What if you were still with your mama and your daddy came back and hurt her and you happened to see the whole thing? You wouldn't want that now, would you? Well, this is why Deborah is considering sending you to California, so you can stay with your sisters while your mama recovers. I know it is a world's difference from Mississippi, but darling, California is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I have been there, several times, and I just love it there! I have been to Los Angeles, San Fransisco, and San Diego, and the people there are so nice! And best of all, the weather is nicer than it is in Mississippi, and it isn't nearly as HOT or HUMID there!
Best of all, Susie, you can be with Lacey and Maria again, and you will have a new friend in Rebekkah Rachel Cohen and in Louisa Mason's daughters! You will be able to go places, and you will be able to laugh and sing and go to church, things I am sure you didn't get to do because of your daddy; and you deserve to be happy! NO child should have to endure what you have had to go through, and your daddy is a very sick man who needs help in channeling his anger. It is obvious, very obvious, that he has a serious problem, and what he did to you was horrific! NO child deserves to be touched in places he or she doesn't want to be touched, and when it does happen, a child feels scared and ashamed! But help IS there, and as long as it is, DON'T be afraid to get it! There are very nice people who will help you through this, and if I can help you in any way, I WILL! That is a PROMISE!
I know you love your daddy (as any daughter should), but what your daddy did was NOT out of love. He needs to be helped right now, and this is why you and your sisters are not together. I can understand your anger towards him; if my own daddy did that to me, I don't know if I could ever forgive him..let alone, talk to him, or even LOVE him ever again! But God wants you to forgive your enemies, and maybe one day when you are grown up, you WILL get that opportunity; but for now, don't worry. Just know that there are people who are willing to help you and your family in your time of need, and know that not ALL people are out to hurt you or make you feel bad!
Sweet Child, I wish I knew what I could do to help you sort out your feelings...but you CAN talk to Deborah or to Louisa Mason or to Rebekkah's mom Naomi, or you can talk to a special doctor who helps people with their feelings. There is no pain involved, and there are no shots, all you do is talk to the doctor and tell her or him why you are feeling upset, sad, or scared, and they will help you sort your feelings out and give you tips on how to cope and make your life better! Or you can write. I am glad that Deborah Anderson got you a laptop; laptops are cool, and you can take them anywhere with you as you go. I have a laptop as well as a regular computer unit at the house, and I love my computers! I am always on the computer when I am not at work, or not taking care of my village (what I call my kids, as there's so many of them! LOL)!
How is the weather there in Mississpippi? Here it is threatening rain again; it seems we have had a lot of rain this summer, and while the temps ARE cooler, the air is sticky with humidity, and it reminds me a lot of Mississippi or Louisiana. The mosquitoes are very bad this year, and I am praying that none of my family gets sick from the mosquito bites!
Well, darling, you tend to your mama and tell her that she is in my prayers and tell her that I hope she feels better soon. You take care, too, and I hope YOU feel better soon! I will continue to pray for you and your mama, and I will be looking forward to your next letter. Again, honey, thank you for writing! God bless you, and hope that we can meet face to face one day! I would love to meet you or your mama or your sisters!
