Louisiana responds to her friend in Mississippi, Audrey Jackson, who is recovering in a hospital from injuries inflicted upon her by her abusive husband, Jack, who is now in jail.

Dear Audrey~
How good it is to hear from you again! I hope you are feeling much better, and I am glad that Susie is with you. I am very sorry for all of the pain you have to go through, but right now, the thing is to get better and know that your daughters are both in very good hands. I just wrote to Louisa Mason today, and she said that the girls are doing quite well for everything they have gone through in the last few days. But they are still understandably sad and reserved; and my heart aches for them. My heart aches for you too; nobody should have to go through what you have gone through, and I wish there was something I could do to take away some of the hurt and pain that you and the girls are currently experiencing!
I know it is hard to be away from your babies, but your husband brought this upon himself, NOT you, and you have NOTHING to be sorry about! What happened is entirely because of your husband's selfish demands, and you have no right to blame yourself! You did NOT do anything wrong: you were just trying to be a very good wife and mother, but you married a man who used you and abused you, and he used every trick in the book so you and the girls could stay with him. Now you are suffering, and a family is in turmoil; and I am very sad about how things have surfaced. You did the right thing in trying to leave, and you did the right thing in ensuring that your daughters were safe before he hurt them all the more. But now they have to live with the memory of the abuse they have endured.
However, help IS out there, and if I were you, once you get over your initial injuries, I would make sure that you stay away from Jack, and that you get the help you all desperately need! If you can't afford the cost of care for counseling, I will have Deborah or someone look for you to see if they can locate low-cost couseling for you and your children! Whenever my kids have had problems in the past, I made sure they got the help, and now they have healed beautifully, and they are now happy, well-adjusted children whose lives are bright with hope and promise!
Sweetie, you are NOT a bad mother! Whoever told you that you were?? (I know...Jack would be one to say that; I wouldn't push it past him...) You tried your best in loving your children, but you were married to a very sick man who didn't know how to be a husband or a father, and you felt trapped because of his lame excuses, and you tried everything under your power to try to make your life a good one for the kids, but things ultimately came to a head, and now you are living with pain and fear. I can understand your feelings, but you just are going through some very unfortunate circumstances, but with the right help, all of this hell that you are enduring CAN be dealt with, and again, there IS help out there for people such as yourself! There have been thousands of people who have walked in your shoes--and WORSE--who have made it, and by God, I know you can too! I will most definitely continue to pray for you, and I will have my church, Christ Community Assembly of God, pray for you as well; so you will be covered with prayer! Don't need to worry about that; but there ARE people who love you and care for you very much, and we want to do our part and try to help you through this scary and unfamiliar situation!
Audrey, if you need anything, ANYTHING at all, you get in touch with me, and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can! I know you must be tired now from therapy, so I will let you go so you can get your rest! I hope you and Susie feel better soon, and I do hope that you know that we are pulling for you both! P.S.: Just wanted to let you know that we heard from Janica in Romania today, and she will be coming in a few weeks! It is coming up fast!! Pretty soon she will be with us! We can't wait!! :)
