Ronee' seems to be in a better mood, and she writes about the space shuttle launch yesterday, how her mother is faring, and other things happening in her life. She is also getting ready to go to arthritis camp in a few weeks, and she is looking forward to it.

Dear Journal~
Here I sit, trying to enjoy the day, now that therapy is over; but boy, am I ever TIRED! This getting up at three in the morning to get ready really bites! I have to get up at three so I can have a bath to soak my stiff and sore joints, and so I can get moving, and then I have to eat, so I can take my morning meds, and then go to the hospital BY seven, so I can be in therapy by seven-thirty. I do this three times a week, and it is really getting to be PAST annoying! But today I am hardly hurting, so maybe that therapy did something good for a change today! :)
I am also happy because the space shuttle (Discovery) went back up into orbit after a three year absence after the shuttle Columbia broke up over Texas on its return mission from space, and so the shuttle/space program was temporarily disbanded while space officials worked to try to rectify the problem. I watched the launch on video on my computer, and it was really exciting; I felt like I was right there along with the astronauts! I hope and pray that nothing goes wrong during this mission or on the return trip; if nothing does, it will be a huge shot in the arm for the beleagured space program! Hopefully I also can see the shuttle go over the house when it goes over, on its return home to Florida.
I also want to report that maman is now seeing a counselor about her recent emotional problems brought on by stress and worry, and yesterday, after she got back from seeing the psychiatrist's, she seemed in a much better mood. Maman also has been eating better, and she hasn't had a migraine in a few days, so maybe she is getting her head back on straight. I hope so; I hate it when she is grouchy! So far, I haven't heard from Susie Jackson; I pray she is okay. I wrote to her two times, but I have yet to get a letter from her. I hope nothing fishy is going on...I also hope that Audrey, her mother, hasn't commited suicide; that is NOT the way to solve things, and besides, suicide is so...FINAL! And once you do it, you CAN'T come back to life again unless God resurrects you or something!
I am getting ready to go to Camp SteppingStone, which is an annual camp put on by the local chapter of the Arthritis Association; I will go during the second week of August, and I will be there for a week. Kids from ages seven on up to 18 get to go to this camp, and while there, they play games, tell stories, put on skits, and do fun activities to keep their minds and bodies active, and it is a great way to make new friends--and hang out with new ones. It's also an excellent way to make one forget of their medical problems for a while. This was how I met my current best gal pal, Nicole Aldape, but lately, she has seemed "distant" somehow, and it's like she doesn't want to be around me, and it really bothers me. Hopefully by the time camp time rolls around, she will be back to her old self again; she and I have really had some wonderful times together!
I can't wait until next month: school starts, and I will officially enter the realm of junior highdom and teendom. I am a little nervous about going to a different school, but at least a lot of my friends will still be there, so it's not like I won't know anyone! I love summer vacation, don't get me wrong; but I would rather exercise my brain and study than to spend all my time playing because I am afraid that my brain will turn to mush if I don't learn anything! That is why you always see me working on the computer or reading or creating new songs, stories, or poetry..anything to keep my brain cells from dying out! I guess I am just a regular nerd in that sense because I am just CRAZZZZZZZY about learning new things! I also love homework and studying! I have been called a "geek" or a "nerd" by kids, and yes, I don't like those terms, but I'd much rather be learning new things than getting into trouble!
Well, dear Journal, I am going to go now. I am going to take a nap, am sleepy all of a sudden. I will write in here another time; until then, take care, and God bless!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your pal, Ronee' Le-Anne. :0 *YAWNING HUGELY*
Sounds like things are getting a tad better, Ronee, and that Camp Steppingstone sounds very cool to me - I wouldn't mind going there myself! And I hope you have lots of fun.
I think I like Ronee best of all your characters. She's the most multi-faceted to me and the most real. We're all praying for shuttle, or maybe shuddering for it (g). I liked her comment on suicide and her little touch of humor.
Enchanta (50,000 words) is an imaginative young adult fantasy novel for children eight to thirteen that adults could also enjoy. The story has lots of magic, adventure and surprises.
