Louisiana in Tennessee answers her California friend's latest email; she is glad to know that Kendra may have a male figure in her life. She is also happy to know that Kendra and the girls are doing well, as is Louisa Mason, Kendra's best friend, who is progresing well with her pregnancy.

Dear Kendra and Family~
Hello, hello! This is your friend in Tennessee writing; it is good to hear from you again! Thanks for keeping me up to date, and thanks for the congratulatory wishes upon Janica's safe arrival into the family! Janica is still scared, but she is starting to get used to us (I THINK!), and she is learning new English words every day. She is really a bright child, and there is no indication of learning disabilities, as doctors had first suspected. She is a beautiful little girl, and she is shy in temperament, but she is still a good-natured child, and we are so blessed that God has brought her into our lives from Romania!
Congratulations on your maybe having a man who seems to be interested in you! How exciting! I hope he will treat you (and your girls) well, and I hope that he accepts you for the person you are, not just a person who happens to have a serious physical disability. Lord knows, I have had to fight tooth and nail for people to try to see my kids as "normal" children, even though I (and they) know that they are not; and I have had to try to make people see my kids for what they are on the INSIDE, not just what is on the surface! I am sure you have had to go through this yourself. I know I have; but since I am no longer using the cane for walking, I have so much in the way of freedom, and I am enjoying being able to dance, run, and skip again without the blinding pain searing down my back and legs! The back surgery WAS hard, but it has been the best thing that could have ever happened to me, and it has been nothing short of a miracle; and I am so grateful to God for giving me a new lease on life! :)
Has the weather cooled off any there in Soulsbysville? Here it has been hot in the 90's (typically summertime weather here in Tennessee) with the threat of afternoon storms every day, but by the weekend, a cool front is supposed to traverse the area, promising cooler, and drier, weather. I hope the weather is nicer there! Here it is partly cloudy at the present time, but we are due for evening and overnight storms (some possibly severe); hopefully we won't get anything more than heavy rain or some wind! I hate it whenever tornadoes or other severe weather events threaten our place, especially since last year, when we had damage to our house and yard from storms!
Tonight, we were going to go out and see the meteor showers that are forecast, but with the possibility of storms, we may not get that chance. So if you do see the meteors tonight, you will have to let us know about them (that is, if it is clear your way!!). I love to look at the stars and all the beauty that God has created; it always gives me a sense of peace and calm!
I am doing better; I still am not working now, but I am doing better emotionally, and I am not letting myself worry about things in which I have no control over; and I am also taking better care of myself, and I seem to have a better frame of mind. I am still writing in my "emotions journal", as per instructed by my psychiatrist, and it's helped wonders! I do miss going to work now, though; and whenever I take the kids to their therapy appointments, I always stop in and see my co-workers while the kids are in therapy, and I am always happy to see my friends/employees! I know they do miss me (as I do them), but they are happy to know that things are starting to settle down for me.
I am also busy trying to answer my mountains of unanswered mail (that is proving to be a futile mission! LOL), and trying to counsel other families with the adoption process, all while still chasing kids around all day, and trying not to fall over my dog, who is always under my feet! I am so scared that I am going to fall onto her, and squish her like a bug!! I worry my fat body might kill her; she is only a four/five-pound Pomeranian who is nothing but a round butterball of fur, and I could very easily inflict some severe damage to her lest I were to fall on her! I get so annoyed with "Cajun Gold"; I am always telling her to get out of the way before I kill myself (or her!)!! LOL But she still makes a terrific watchdog; she may be little, but she has very big courage for her tiny size, and she and our Great Dane, "Marmaduke", are the best of pals, and I think this is where she learned some of her tough nature from! LOL
How has Louisa been doing with her pregnancy? Do they know what the baby's sex is yet? I personally hope it is a boy; seems that a lot of my friends have been having nothing but girls lately! (But don't tell her I told you this! LOL) Tell her and Jeff that they are still in our thoughts and prayers!
Have you heard anything about Susie Jackson or the fate of her sisters, Lacey and Maria, yet? I am so worried about them; I have been praying nonstop for them, it seems! That is such a sad situation! I feel so bad for Audrey!!
Well, last week, we watched "America's Most Talented Kids" on tv, and they showed Ronee' 's performance on there, and it was so exciting to see her on tv! She really did a super job (as did all the kids), but you know that we were pulling for Ronee'! LOL We also saw you there, and I was like, "Hey, I know those people in the audience!!" LOL I taped it, and now we can watch it whenever we want! But that kid who won with the juggling was fantastic, and Ronee' did a super job, even though she only came in third; still, that isn't bad, if you ask me! She finished in the top three, so that is great!! :)
Well, we have been busy trying to get the kids' school supplies ready for their back to school in a few weeks, and of course, the kids are sad that their summer vacation is nearly up; but of course, I, being the mama to this village, am soooo looking forward to their going to school! LOL The only one who will be home with me is little Arjun, and he is getting to be a handful himself! He is into everything, and if he is tired or bored, he turns mean and cranky, and he throws temper tantrums; and it is always interesting trying to calm him down when he acts up in public! He is learning English as well, and he is learning new words every day!
Well, Kendra, I will go for now; have to tend to Jodie, who has gone in her diapers again (plus she left a puddle in her wheelchair; ICK!!). I do wish she could go to the bathroom on her own, but I can't get TOO mad at her; she just doesn't understand! So I have to fix the problem and go on and not get upset with her, which would only stress her (and myself) out!! LOL Take care, and God bless you always! Love you and miss you all!
Do tell us about this new fella' in your life! This is exciting to hear about!! I am ALL ears!!!
Great Write Karen! Wish I could join in all the letter writing fun, but my days at AD are rapidly coming to a close. Soon I will be no more I am sorry to say. It has been a great experience though, that is for sure. I will miss sharing my writes w. you and the other few readers I had.
