Dear Wilma Gardner~
Thank you for your beautiful letter of yesterday; it was so nice to hear from you again!
As luck would have it, I HAVE written TWO books about my family! I wrote the first one, "A Family Made out of Miracles And Rainbows: The Sandusky Family Story--A True Story of Love and International Adoption" in late 2003 (it went into publication during the summer of 2004), and I wrote the sequel to the first book late last year (it went into publication just a few months ago); this one is entitled "...And The Miracles Continue: The Sandusky Family Story, Continued", and I have already attended a few book signings (and more are to follow in the coming months). I also wrote a book about nursing, so I have done three books altogether! I will be sending you an autographed copy of both my "family books", with my compliments, and I will be more than happy to send them to you, free of charge. This way, you can learn more about us and "what makes us tick", and you can see what myself and my family look like. *giggle* I am the short, dark-headed woman with the big chest and the huge smile on her face! *more giggles* They will be in a package that I will get ready for you, and I will be mailing it sometime next week, so you should be getting it later next week or the week after next (provided nothing happens along the way!). I hope you will like what I will be sending you, so be on the lookout for a package in the mail! :)
I am sorry to learn that your niece has disabilities, but it is obvious from your happy letter and your beautiful description of her that Ayla Davi is a very happy child. Good for her! I would love to see a picture of her if you have one! She is so blessed to have a caring auntie and uncle in Fred and yourself, and I am glad that she was the inspiration behind your wanting to adopt a child with special needs. I also delighted in reading about your friend's little boy who has Treacher-Collins, and I am glad that he was the catalyst in your deciding to adopt a child with the same condition. I hope that you get into contact with AASK, and I hope that you get to adopt Tyler; he would be a much happier little boy if you gave him the love and home he so desperately needs!
Thank you for the sympathy wishes regarding our three children that we lost (Aron Jakub, Pierre Armand, and L'Acadia Marie-Antoinette). If they had lived, they would all be in their teens now. I still miss them all with all my heart and soul, but I know that they are looking down on us, and I know that they are happy and safe with Jesus up in Heaven. One day we shall be reunited, and that will be a very happy day indeed! GLORY! :) We visit their graves whenever we go to Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and we always put new flowers and toys by their graves, and yes, we still pray and shed tears over their graves; we will never completely get over the pain of losing a child, let alone THREE. But God had better plans, and one day, when we are in Heaven, only then will the answers be revealed as to why He chose to take our three biological children when they were all so very young.
I wrote about our three natural children in our books, and I also wrote about our kids that we have now, and all that they have had to endure prior to their being grafted onto the Sandusky Family Tree, and I also wrote of their accomplishments and good times. The Sandusky family story is not all about sadness and heartbreak; there is much joy and celebration in our family, and we thank God each and every day for the Miracle Children that He brought to us. Our kids are now flourishing, and it has gotten to the point to where we can't imagine our lives without any of them! Little Janica is adjusting beautifully, and even she has managed to wrap her little self around our hearts! (Maybe there will be a Volume III in the works??? Maybe we should tell Janica's story in a future volume; I am sure that she will have many life experiences worth writing about! Time will only tell, folks! *giggle*)
I wish you all the best in your Adoption Journey; please know that you and Fred are in my prayers, and I hope that one day little Tyler will be yours! That would be a dream come true for you!
God bless you always, and do write again, Wilma! I enjoyed writing to you, and I would love to write to you again!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your new Tennessee friend, Louisiana Mayrah Sandusky ("SuperMama!" *grins*). :D

Karen your series on the Sandusky family is well read by everyone here at AD. You are an Author Extraordinaire, and you should be proud of the lifelike characters you so much bring alive from your heart and soul. I am so proud to call you my sister, sis. Keep writing sis, as we all enjoy this series very, very much. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, stubborn to a fault, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your still sad and terrified little sister, Barbie
"If I have to be this girl in me, Then I may as well be."
Karen you write these letters so well and with such feeling that the reader feels like he knows each and every one of your characters...quite a talent you have sis....
A beautiful family tree whose roots go deep down into rich and fertile soils of the hearts of all those who read of them, Karen. Such sadness and dignity - no bitterness - for tragedy and loss, turned to blessing and benefit in the adoption of these special grafted-in branches. The loving and giving move me inexpressibly. These are all Superheros to my mind! Unsung but not unsaid while your pen is living and active! Thank you and bless you - and your Daddy, too, whatever he is at present encountering. May he be uplifted by your gifts and thoughtfulness. LOL Kate xx
