One of the more memorable people I have had the pleasure (?) of knowing over the years as a paramedic has made a huge impact on what I do and why I enjoy my job so much. She has given us plenty of times for fear and uncertainty, but at the same time, she has also proved to be a fighter, an inspiration, and nothing short of a miracle in my eyes.

Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux is now nearly thirteen years of age, and her health lately has been to where we haven't had to go on runs on account of her. She has had a very long standing history of breathing problems and asthma, but she is now at the age to where she knows to stay away from the things that give her the most trouble, and she knows how to administer her own medication and knows not to overdo it if her asthma IS acting up. She also knows when to call for help, and she knows that as long as she follows her doctors' advice, she should not have any problems to where she needs our services. She has had everything from a premature stroke (brought on by a severe asthmatic episode) on her eighth birthday, several heart attacks (again, brought on by severe allergic episodes), seizures, and whatnot, and yet she has emerged from each crisis more determined to survive, and stronger in spirit than ever before. She has such a wonderful outlook on life, and she enjoys everything that life has to offer. She is very gifted in a lot of ways, and her verbal and reasoning skills are nothing short of extraordinary. She is a very talented young vocalist and musician, and her goal in life is to become as famous (and as well known) as her favorite country singer, Loretta Lynn. With her talents and determination, I have no doubt in my mind that she will make it. She has the drive to succeed, and nothing is going to stop her or stand in her way.

We have nearly turned grey on account of this young lady, but in the end, everything that she has put us through has made us appreciate her and her insatiable will to live. She is very well loved by many people, and whenever people who don't know her first meet her in person, they are forever changed in some way. She has a way to bring out the very best in people, and she has a great support system in her friends and family. She teaches people about the true meaning of courage and hope in the face of mitigating or difficult circumstances, and she has a way of wrapping herself around your little finger--or your heart. She is one of the smartest young people I have had the pleasure of knowing, and she will talk your ear off if you let her. She isn't afraid to speak her mind, and she isn't afraid to hide her feelings. She is very gentle and compassionate in nature, and she hasn't a mean bone in her body, even if people do treat her wrong. She just prays for them and forgives them, and she moves on without getting all bent out of shape about it. She is very devout in her faith as a Christian, and she lives for Jesus in her actions and in her very existance. She is probably one of the main reasons why I became a paramedic in the first place, and I owe my very life to her. She is truly a person worth getting to know, and I feel that my life is richer because OF knowing her and helping her during her times of need. God is going to use Ronee' in a very big way, and she is going to bless people with her testimony, her brave heart, and most of all, her musical talents. I have never seen a child/young lady quite like her in my paramedic career, and I don't think that I will ever forget her as long as I live. She is truly a Miracle, and she has made me a better person inside AND outside.
