Dear Louisiana~
MMMM-boy, you sure whetted MY appetite, describin' some of those Cajun dishes! WOW! I just may have to come up that away, so I can try some of your Cajun dishes! I LOVE Cajun food!! My mama made Cajun food when she was alive, and boy, I sure do miss it! It has been a long while since I last had some gumbo or jambalaya, let alone, some Cajun-boiled crawfish!! I would be delighted to come up that way; anything to get out of Mississippi!!
For some reason, my color grid on my computer isn't workin', so you will have to get this letter in basic black. Oh, well...at least I can still write! I am still livin' on beans and canned goods; the storm ruined a lot of the food in my fridge, and I am still at the shelter. Looks like I will be here a long while until I can get some money from the government; when I do, I just may go to Austin, Texas, so I can join up with my husband and my boys; I sure do miss them! But I AM glad that they were able to leave; it was ME who was the dummy! LOL Now I am nursin' a broken arm; I guess that is what I get for being so stubborn! But I AM feelin' quite a bit better, so that is good! I just wish I could leave this shelter, but until I get the money from the government, I am afraid that I will be stayin' put!
I would love to meet your Rainbow Family! Speaking of your family, I bet your little daughter Ronee' sings really purty; I bet she sings like an angel! I love Cajun music; and yes, I would love to hear her CD! That is nice of y'all to think of me enough to want to send it to me! But first, I will have to be settled in someplace, if in Texas or somewhere other. So it may be a while before I can hear it. Oh, well...I would love to meet the rest of your kids; I love kids who are disabled; they are such angels, and they always bring a smile to my face. My neighbor, Wanda, had a little grandson who had cerebral palsy and was in a wheelchair, and whenever he'd come to visit her, I always enjoyed him. He was always laughing and smiling, and he was just so darned cute! But he died last year; he had a breathin' crisis, and he couldn't get over it. Such a darn shame, too! He was only eight, and he was her pride and joy! I haven't heard from Wanda since Hurricane Katrina, and I am a wonderin' if she got out or if she is even ALIVE! I pray that she is; she was such a nice neighbor, never caused any trouble...I bet your Jodie is a cutie pie too! I bet ALL your kids are! You will have to send me more pictures of them when you can; I love lookin' at pictures! I lost all mine in that stupid hurricane; lost just about everythin' else too, includin' my very life! But God saw to it that I would live, and I am glad, very glad, I did; but it sho nuff is gonna' be really hard to start over again!!
I loved the picture of the fall leaves; was that taken in your area? It is really purty!! Here there are no trees; they gone in the hurricane; and everythin' is so ugly and stinkin'; Katrina sho nuff did a number on us Mississippi folk, not to mention, N'Awlins, Louisiana! Then her li'l sister, Rita, came along, and she done finish the job! Phooey!! I am so sick of hurricanes right now I can just SPIT!! GRRR!!!
Well, doll, I will go now; I just managed to depress myself again. I can't wait to leave here; and I can't wait to see my husband and my boys again! I also can't wait to get that Cajun CD, and I can't wait to taste some of y'all's Cajun cookin'! So if you see a hungry lookin' Black lady sportin' a cast on her arm and lookin' for all the world like a ragamuffin standing on your back porch, chances are, it'll be ME. Hope to see y'all soon!

This is a really nice letter I really enjoyed this one really full of life and can feel the happy outlook in here even though as she says kinda kickin' herself for staying Always that hind site isn't there?
