Ronee' writes in her journal during her Study Hall. She is feeling better today since going to the doctor's yesterday for a sinus infection. She is excited about this coming Saturday, as she is going to the Grand Ole Opry for the annual Birthday Celebration.

Dear Journal~
Hi! This is your gal pal, Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux! I am sorry for not writing in here lately, but I have had a TON of homework just about every night (or so it seems; seems that some of my teachers are hard-core TASKMASTERS! ARRGGGHH!! LOL), and I also have been sick the last several days, ever since Friday. I have a killer sinus infection, and it reallllly kicked me in the tail, but I went to see Dr. Emmons, my pediatrician, yesterday, and he gave me a shot and some medication, and it so far seems to be helping; but it sure makes me goofy-headed! But I AM feeling better, and for that I am GLAD, GLAD, GLAD, because on Saturday, the 22nd of October, I am going to the Grand Ole Opry, for the country music show's 80th birthday celebration. All the Big Guns of the Grand Ole Opry are scheduled to be there, including Loretta Lynn (my #1 FAVORITE singer of ALL TIME!!), Little Jimmy Dickens, Jimmy C. Newman and his band, "Cajun Country" (they are also huge favorites of mine!! :) ), Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, The Osborne Brothers, and Alan Jackson..and that is ONLY naming a FEW. The newest Grand Ole Opry member, Dierks Bentley, will also be there. Speaking of Dierks, I could have seen him LAST Saturday, but I couldn't, as I was sick in bed, OHHHHHHHHH!!! I was SOOO MAD!! But now I get to go to THIS week's celebration, and so it's like I didn't EVEN miss it!! :) I am sooo stoked about going to the Grand Ole Opry again; whenever I go there, be it to see the show or sing (that is, if I am SCHEDULED!!), I always feel like I am HOME!! I LUV the Grand Ole Opry; the Grand Ole Opry is KEWL!!!! :D
Maybe it is a good thing I have so much homework because remember the last time I write (ARRGGGHHH; STUPID medicine is messin' with my mind!! ARGGGH!!!), when I mentioned of the girls making fun of me or ignoring me?? Well, it turns out that I have been soooo busy with schoolwork, I haven't had TIME to worry about things like that! And the girls have NOT been bothering me! Now, the BOYS, on the other hand, HAVE been bothering me, but I have been TRYING my best to ignore them, and HOPEFULLY, one day they will STOP tormenting me!! I have told the teachers, and they are keeping a good, close eye on them; must be working because they haven't bothered me since last week, like last Monday. So they are maybe starting to cut me a little slack; LORD, I hope so!!
I wasn't at school yesterday (mostly due to my doctor's appointment, plus I felt HORRID!!), but today I am BACK at school, and I am feeling TONS better (EXCEPTING for this nagging cough and smelling that stuff in my nose; it's GROSS!! I can TASTE it too! YUCK!!!), but I am, at least, feeling more human than I was on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! I missed not only the Grand Ole Opry, I also missed church, and if there is one thing I absolutely HATE to miss, it is to miss church!! But I WILL go to church tomorrow, so I am happy about that!! :)
Mama's friend in Finland, Sari Gustaffssenn, has been sick herself; she has MS, and she has been in the hospital and has been having a lot of problems with her health. She seemed so sad, mama said; maybe I ought to write her a letter, to try to cheer her up. I also have to write to Susie Jackson and to Rebecca Cohen in California, and also to Sikik Grace Eegeesiak and Jenna Aurora Doucet in Alaska; they all probably think that I up and croaked or something! It is NOT like me not to write; but as I said, I have had homework up my wazoo, and I also have been busy with other things! So there you are.
Well, not much is new other than me being sick (but I am now getting better!), and besides, my tummy is rumbling (it will be lunch soon; I can already smell the delicious odors wafting through the walls and the air vents, YUM!! Think we are having chili and tacos today; it is Mexican Fiesta Tuesday for lunch today. YUMMM! I LUV Mexican food, almost as much as I do CAJUN!! :) ), and me missing the Grand Ole Opry (but will be going THIS Saturday; I canNOT WAIT!!!!). I also wanted to mention that Johnny, my brother, has been sick as well, but unfortunately, his sickness is partly due to his disease. STUPID MD; I HATE it!! I wish they'd find a cure FAST!!! It is soooo frustrating to see Johnny getting weaker and needing more help with everyday things, and it is especially maddening to know that there isn't really anything that can be done to help him excepting keeping him from getting sick, giving him therapy and some meds and stuff, and more or less, watching him get worse and die; but I am NOT going to let that happen! I want a cure for MD to be found more than anything so my brother Johnny (and others like him) can get out of their wheelchairs and LIVE!!!
I will go now; I will be leaving to go to lunch soon. I will write more in here another time; I will tell you about the Grand Ole Opry birthday celebartion and who I saw and how it went; I will also write of other things that cross my mind. Until later, Dear Journal, take care, and God bless!

The pic of Loretta Lynn is a copy of one I took the last time I saw her. Isn't she pretty?? I just LUV that gal!!!! :) She may be "old" by a lot of people's standards (in comparison to people like Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and others), but that gal can STILL sing CIRCLES around them, in my honest opinion!! She is a legend, and she is still #1 in my book!!! :D

Hand-written letters are the best! And even better are hand-written letters penned from feather quill and India ink and sealed with wax.
These ways should be kept alive because they work and still win out over fast and electronic.
In one of my novels, the character writes letters to a girlfriend that she doesn't intend to send. She wants to present them to her in person when she arrives. In the meantime, she seals them and stores them under the bench seat storage of an authentic pinewood Deacon's bench of yesteryear. Excellent mention of the Grand Ole Opry! It is through your style of letters, Karen, that we can be informed of people, places, and a caring attitude!

Karen you write the Ronee stories like you were Ronee yourself. I like the way Ronee talks, in her journals, and in her adventures. I love this series, but I will never be able to keep up tho. (Giggles). Thnx sis for sahring this enlightening and free spirited tale, of a young girl's life, even if she is fictional. This is great.
Also sis, I am so sorry I haven't been reading more of your works, but every now and then when I do get online, I have to liedown again, like I am going to do now.
