Louisiana is thrilled at the news her friends in Oklahoma have shared with her: they are going to get their first child, a little girl from China, in a few months, officially making them a brand new family. So she writes to offer them her congratulations.

Congratulations upon the news from Holt! So it looks like little Pearl Xie will be joining your family! That is TERRIFIC news!! I am sooo happy for you guys!
I LOVED the picture of Loretta Lynn you put on your letter; she is such a wonderful performer and a sweet person; she definitely DOES care for her fans, even now! She is such a talented songwriter and singer, and I have loved Loretta Lynn ever since I can rightly remember! I first saw Loretta Lynn in concert when I was but a little girl; she performed at the Cajun Heartland State Fair in Louisiana, and when the show was over, I got to meet her, and I was so excited, all I could do was cry!! Now whenever Loretta Lynn is in town and we are able to go and see her, we go and see her perform. We have also gone to Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth, Texas, to see her in concert, and we are going there in December; Loretta Lynn is scheduled to perform at Billy Bob's Texas on the third. Now we will see if her health holds out, so we can go. We are already in the process of ordering our tickets from the BBT ticket office, and as soon as we hear that they are going on sale, we are getting them! We canNOT wait!! We have seen Loretta numerous times; we have probably seen Loretta Lynn perform at least fifty times or more!! :) (Can you tell that we are gigundo fans of hers?? *Grins*)
As for the other young lady you mentioned in your letter (Kata Huddleston), she is a wonderful young performer as well. She is really going to go places in her career, and she is a beacon of hope for traditional and western-style country music!
We did make it to the Grand Ole Opry Birthday Celebration, and we had a marvelous time. We saw Garth Brooks, Little Jimmy Dickens, Loretta Lynn, new Opry member Dierks Bentley, Rhett Akins, Dolly Parton, Porter Wagoner, and many others, and we even got to try some of the Grand Ole Opry cake! My son and daughter are over their recent bout of illness; this was why we got to go, and we all had a great time at the Opry!! We love going to the Opry; if you ever get a chance to come up here to Nashville, and you are a country music lover (in which you ARE), then you SHOULD, by ALL means, try to make it a point to attend the Grand Ole Opry!! You will NOT be disappointed!!
Yes, Ronee' DOES sing. She sings Cajun and traditional country music mostly, but she WILL sing a top forty hit or a gospel song if she wants to. She has even done some rap in her shows, and she is a talented young performer. She sings and plays several different musical instruments including guitar, banjo, Cajun accordion, fiddle, and steel guitar. My other kids are also musically inclined: like Ronee', they all sing, and they also play instruments. Sometimes we perform together as a family (especially during the summer months), but Ronee' has her own band, "Cajun Spice", and she is the lead singer. Ronee' has three CD's of her music out, and Johnny has one; but the others don't have any recordings out yet. Some of the kids also clog dance, and they have danced during our shows. But the main singers are Johnny (whenever he is feeling good; he doesn't do it all the time; it all depends on his health and how he happens to be feeling at the time) and Ronee' Le-Anne. I will be sending you her new CD with this letter; so be on the lookout for that! Also be looking for our new book, "...And The Miracles Continue", which is the sequel to "A Family Made Out of Miracles And Rainbows: The Sandusky Famly Story--A True Story Of Love And International Adoption". It was just done this year, and so far, it has gotten good response.
The leaves have started changing here; it should be near peak by next weekend or the start of the following week. The weather HAS cooled off here, and we are getting some serious late-summer/early-fall yardwork done. Time to get our place winterized!! It won't be long before the snow hits us in the butt! LOL But I love this time of year: the holidays are approaching, and I love getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas!! I also love the holidays because I get to see my kids who are living out of state, and best of all, I get to see my grandchildren from Colorado!! :) (I have six grandkids, five grandsons, and one granddaughter. Hopefully there will be more in the future when Melizza or Dianna get married!!)
What are you going to do for Thanksgiving? We are going to go out to eat at the Golden Corral, like we always do, and we also come home and lay around and let our full bellies flop around! LOL We also watch football and just enjoy each other's company and be thankful that we made it through another year!! As for Christmas, we don't know what will happen, Christmas, for now, is still up in the air.
Well, Wilma, let me again offer you my congratulations upon the approval of Pearl's adoption, and thank you so much for sharing the news! That is sooo marvelous!! I will be sure to tell the prayer team at Christ Community Assembly of God about the praise report; they will be tickled to know that there was a huge answer to prayer!! There will be a lot of shoutin' and praisin' come Sunday at church!! :) Do write again as soon as you hear WHEN you are getting little Pearl Xie into your family, and do NOT let us wait!! We are on the edge of our seats!! *GRINS*

Interracial adoptions are such a blessing. In my novel BLUE CORN WOMAN, my character adopts a half-breed Native American/Mexican boy who has a mild case of fetal alcohol syndrome. When we can bring these mixed and different race children into our homes, it is a unifying effort and compassionate environment to show society that we all have the same color of blood running through our veins. To give a home to an orphaned child or an orphaned animal is the most compassionate thing one can do. Thanks for the letter, Karen Lynn.
