Being in the wrong place at the wrong time can spell disaster.

He looked at himself in the mirror that stood over the chest of drawers in his bedroom. His face began to change .He tried to fight it , but to no avail. He felt a burning heat running through his body . There was absolutely no doubt that something weird was happening. His fingers were slowly lengthening, and the nails were starting to grow into long, pointed claws. Dark gray fur sprang up all over his body, and his muscles spread. His clothes were ripped ,and fell away, as he changed shape. His arms lengthened, claws clickng on his paws. His face jutted forward, his nose and mouth melding together in a tooth filled, saliva dripping muzzle. His eyes sank back into his face, getting redder , more feral. His ears lengthen, the lobes disappeared, and pointed dog like ears sprouted. His hair vanished in the gray fur as the transformation continued.......

It was a bright winter day.  Snow flakes began to fall softly onto the ground.  A cold, angry wind was blowing through the forest.
A woman walked steadily along a lonely path ,her thick, Down coat wrapped tightly around her body for warmth and protection from the elements.

Suddenly a  blood curdling howl echoed through the   forest.

The howling stopped suddenly.

Fear gripped the woman’s heart.  She had heard about the man eating  wolf that prowled the area and she was a long way from home.

There was another howl. This time louder sounding closer.

The woman quickened her pace.

The wolf, a huge gray, paused for breath, then sniffed the air and smelt the scent of the woman.  His rangy head tilted beyond his massive shoulders.

Stimulated by the scent ,he raced  through the thick forest following the scent,

The morning light shifted in columns through the darkness beneath the trees.

Panting loudly, his flaming orange eyes took in everything, as he raced towards the prey, his huge paws leaving deep  claw marks in the snow .

His breath heaved in and out now, spuming clouds of steam before him as he increased his pace.

His great shaggy chest raised and lowered, and his powerful shoulders surged.

He spotted the woman  in the distance  ahead.

Food !  The thought burned into his mind.

He salivated heavily as he surged forward, propelled by the extreme hunger he felt.

The woman turned her head and saw him coming towards her.   Her heart began pounding in her breast.   She felt trapped, helpless.   She tried to run, but the depth of the snow impeded her pace .

the Wolf was closing in at a rapid pace now.  Saliva spilling from it's mouth ,blowing in the wind.

Now, within spring distance, the creature's lips curled up, showing long white fangs and shining pink gums.  His ears pressed close to his massive head. He tensed, then  sprang with a growl , flying towards her. A huge mass of fur and muscle.

The woman screamed and raised her hands defensivelyto her face.

There was a loud report of a rifle shot.

The bullet struck the wolf  in the heart, dead center.  The impact spun him around in the air and he fell heavily in the snow about a foot away from the terrified woman.

The woman fainted and crumbled into the snow.

"Got the bastard." Parker  the hired hunter said. triumphantly to his Innuit friend Mosely.

""Yes,sir, and just in time, too" replied Mosely, his voice filled with admiration.

They both gasped and recoiled in shock and horror ,as the wolf  began changing it's form slowly into the naked figure of the Town's Mayor.

The End
