Dear Journal~
Hi! It's me, your gal-pal, Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux!
I am sorry for not writing in here sooner, but for quite a while, school has kept me hoppin': seems that I have had homework nearly every night for the past week and a half. I also have been practicing for the upcoming Christmas Cantata at my church, Christ Community Assmbly of God. I have been tagged to sing "O Holy Night", just like I did last year.
Well, I DO have ONE good thing to tell ya: my health has been behaving itself; not much going on there (for ONCE!!). :) (Hope this good spell with my health lasts a long while; I LOVE not worrying about my breathing OR my JRA!!)
Also, we are getting ready for Christmas. Christmas is only a few weeks away, and Christmas is always a very busy time for our family. We got our Christmas lights up last week (on Friday), and tonight, we are putting up our Christmas tree and also the other Christmas decorations. We want to make sure that our place is ready for the company that is sure to come. My older sisters Dwerlina, Tanya, Steffi, and Lightning (who all live out of state) are coming home for Christmas break, and we also found out that Jenna Aurora Doucet and her husband, Michael, from Alaska, are flying in to see us. We also found out that Jenna is pregnant with her first child; if all goes well, the baby will be born sometime in August! :) Maybe we will even see Kendra Williams and HER bunch from California! I hope so; that would be SUPER!! I sure do love them!! And I will get to see Susie, Lacey, and Maria again; it has been a very long time since I last saw them!! I am kinda' hopin' that Rebekkah Rachel Cohen and HER parents come too! I don't know though: they are Jewish, and they celebrate Hannukah (spelling?? LOL), and they also celebrate the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hoshanna and Yom Kippur (spelling?? LOL). But they DO celebrate Christian holidays like Christmas and Easter 'cause they are Messionic (spelling?? LOL) Jews, and they believe in Salvation and in Jesus Christ. So we will have a house FULL of people!! (WHERE, O WHERE is maman and daddy gonna' put EVERYONE??? Maybe this means that I will have to sleep on the ROOF!! LOL)
Speaking of Christmas, my 13th birthday is coming up fast. In less than a month, I will OFFICIALLY become a TEENAGER!! No longer will I be a little girl: for me childhood is about over, and I am on the verge of becoming a young lady. It is kinda' depressing because my happy, carefree days of childhood are almost over, and I have heard that the teen years are AWFUL!! (Don't I already know that: between worrying about pimples, how I smell, and the wild emotional swings, and also growing hair in various places, and geting boobs and hips, and so forth, I'd say that being a teenager is pretty ROTTEN!!) I FINALLY look more like a teenager instead of a baby, but still...I DON'T like all these crazy changes my body is going through!! I also have to hear about things like dating, sex, BOYS, and fashion, and if you ask me, I think the opposite sex (and "doing it" with them) is DISGUSTING!! I also have to worry about being pressured about wearing make-up or hearing the latest rock-pop-rap hits when I am more of a country music gal, or which friends I'll keep (or which ones will dump me). As if I don't ALREADY have more than enough on my plate to worry about now!! SHEESH!! And I am NOT 13 yet!! AUGGGHHH!!!!
I CAN go shopping with my family or my closest friends or go to the movies (G-rated or PG-rated ONLY!) or to the bowling alley, but I can't have a steady boyfriend or wear make-up until I am at LEAST 16 or 17, and having sex before marriage is a HUGE NO-NO!! I can't do that until AFTER I am good and married!!
I also have church activities to keep me grounded, and that is always a HUGE plus in my life 'coz God is EXTREMELY important to me. Without Him, I am a big ZERO, a big NOTHING.
Well, I DO have some bad news to report: Nicole Aldape and I are no longer best friends, and a lot of that is because of her health. She has been very sick, and she is NOT doing well AT all. But I HAVE found a new best friend in Alisha'a Otumwundi, who is fairly new to our school. (She came to our school just after the beginning of the new school year.) She is very nice, and she was surprised to know that I loved African music and culture and that I wore Maasai-style earrings in my ears on occasion. (My friend, M'Buti Ayala Moore-Sormiento, who is originally from Kenya, in East Africa, made them for me, and I just LOVE 'em!!) She was also surprised that I know some basic Swahili (and I DO!!). She loves to listen to R & B and rap, and she loves to dance (she is a fairly good dancer; she is way better than I can ever HOPE to be!!). She loves to read books about Africa and her people and culture (as I do!!). Her parents are originally from Tanzania, which is just south of Kenya, in East Africa, and they came here before she (Alisha'a) was born. She has kinda' taken the sting of my losing Nicole Aldape, but--I still miss Nicole. She and I were best friends ever since the first time we went to arthritis camp six years ago, and for some reason or another, she and I just kinda' drifted apart.
I guess I will stop here, my fingers are getting quite sore (*OW*). I will write in here again, probably before Christmas (and my birthday); this is one of my last journal entries as a twelve-year-old. *Sighhhhhhhh!* C ya later, alligator! C'est la vie!!

I like how this journal entry is multi-religions and multi-cultures.
One of our den members is from Tanzania. Age thirteen is the entrance into womanhood and she takes a mysterious journey all throughout life. Happy Birthday, Ronee. Thanks Karen Lynn.

this is really sweet. you've caught all thaty teen-tween stuff perfectly. and she's still so innocent. but it sounds like her head's on straight. she neweds lots of grownups to encourage her to keep following her instincts.
Well dear Ronee Happy Birthday and you sure did finish your pre teen journal off with a fantastic write. You are so filled with good cheer you can probably fly around like an angel for Christmas;-)
