Dearest Louisiana And Family~
I am writing this to send to you in my Christmas card; that way, I am killing two birds with one stone, as they say! *grins* I will be mailing it on Monday; hopefully you will get it sometime in a week or two!
Thank you for your delightful letter a few weeks ago; I am happy that things are going well for you! Your new children (Arjun, Janica, and Rani) all sound absolutely aDORable; and I am sure that this will be one Christmas to remember for your family! My Christmas will be quiet; it is just Karla and myself. Karla is doing better today, but she has her good days and her bad days when it comes to her kidneys. When she is done with dialysis, she is often very weak and tired, and she doesn't have much of an appetite, but she knows she needs this to stay alive; so she just puts up with it. Life cerrtainly isn't fair at times, but when things start happening in twos or threes, I DO get a little concerned...I am doing pretty good myself, but I am missing my husband now during the Christmas season, and it is hard to be happy when my heart is breaking! But the Christmas music and the lights do help a LITTLE.
It sounds like you are going to have a house full of company! WOW! I wish I could come and surprise you with coming over myself, but I don't have the money to travel, and with Karla's health in question, getting away is but a dream now. Maybe someday if I hit the lottery or by some miracle I can travel, but until then, I am stuck here on the reservation. Oh, well...at least I am ALIVE, and at least my darling daughter is too; that I can be very grateful for!! :)
I got your Christmas card last week, along with the pictures of your family. Thank you ever so much! I have the pictures sitting out on the foyer dresser, and I look at them every day. You have such beautiful looking children! You truly ARE an angel to take in so many kids with disabilities! You can be a beacon of hope to so many broken, needy children, and it is so refreshing to know that there are good, caring people such as yourself in this cruel, cold world! You are certainly a breath of fresh air, and the spirits will surely reward you handsomely when you get to your destination upon your passing! I look at the pictures and I can't help BUT to smile because I remember your words of encouragement and your prayers, and I am indeed blessed to have you as a friend! :)
It is snowing here today; it looks like a Christmas picture postcard outside. I hope the weather is nice there in Tennessee. I heard you had some snow earlier in the week, and I hope that you had no problems getting around. I know I would!! Do you have your Christmas decorations up, and is your Christmas tree up? I have a little tree, but it looks more like the tree in "A Charlie Brown Christmas" than a real tree; it is scrawny, and it is pretty pitiful looking! It just has a few ornaments on it, nothing else; it is too small and too flimsy to hold Christmas lights on it! LOL I hope your tree looks much better than mine does! LOL
I sent your Johnny and your Ronee' a little something for their 13th birthday, so be on the lookout in the mail. It isn't much, but I figure that they can get themselves something for their Christmas/birthday. They sound like such wonderful kids, and I hope I get a chance to meet them...and all your OTHER children, too! I hope I get to meet your husband, and I hope I get to meet you too! You seem like a very nice, caring, compassionate person, and I would love for you to meet Karla, too! She is shy, but once you get to know her, she is still a good kid with a good heart, and she makes me proud to be her mother! (Maybe you can write to her too, like you do me....she could really use some cheering up. Ever since her daddy died, her spirit has been broken, and it makes me cry to see her being so sad! I wish I could do more to cheer her up, but a mama can only do so much for her child....I am sure a letter from you would lift her spirits up!)
Well, dear Louie, I will go for now. I have to give Karla her medication, and I also have to try to get her to eat...at times trying to get her to eat is like pulling teeth...LOL Until I next hear from you, be on the lookout for the card (and this letter therein), as well as the little "surprise" for Johnny and Ronee'! Merry Christmas, and Happy, Healthy New Year to you and yours!

Sorry, was a bit confused to start with, but that just goes to show how REAL you paint your characters and situations. This write with compassion and attitude will help me not to be so whiney and moany today, I hope... TY LOL Kate xx
Thanks for this wonderful letter, Karen. It reminded us of my aunt, who had to undergo the suffering of dialyses three times a week, but was such a wonderful person, so patient in all her pain, it was a pleasure to care for her and we miss her a LOT! Your writing is so realistic, filled with love and care, it can't help but to touch one's heart!
