Louisiana writes back to her friend in Georgia. She is happy because she has found out that she and her family got a free two week cruise to Alaska from the supervisors at her job at the hospital.

Hi! Thanks for your beautiful letter; I am so happy to have heard from you again! Glad you had a nice Christmas and New Year! We sure did; it was great having ALL the kids home, and it was wonderful to see the grandkids, and it was wonderful seeing my friends from Alaska and Finland again! But now nearly everyone has left, and it is just us usual folks here! LOL
But today I feel sad: I keep on thinking about what has transpired in West Virginia, with those trapped coal miners and their families, and how joy has turned to great sadness (all because of somebody who inadvertantly gave them false hope and now they are left to grieve and ask questions), and my heart is heavy with sadness. I don't know why things like this have to happen, but it sure gives the news people a black eye, doesn't it? Someone is obviously NOT doing their job here, and they need to be dealt with. If I were a famliy member or relative of one of those miners who died, I would be so angry I couldn't see straight!! It's no wonder people no longer trust the news media nowadays!! If I want to hear news, I want to hear the FACTS, not all this other "gobbledygook"!! All I CAN do for those people is pray for them and pray that God gives them the comfort and peace that they need now!
We did get a lot of nice things for Christmas: my husband got me several magazine subscriptions (I subscribe to several adoption magazines...Adopted Child, Adoptive Familes, Rainbow Kids, etc....and I also subscribe to Parents Magazine and Exceptional Child Magazine, as well as several nursing publications), and I also got some perfume (Red Door, L'air Du Temps, Lady Stetson), bath soaps and body washes, new towels and washclothes, new sheets, pillow cases, and blankets, new shoes, new clothes, several books about children and disability, several Christian autobiographies, some coupons for hair appointments, some coupons for pictures at Olan Mills, and a new diamond ring. The children also made out like bandits, too, and they have been enjoying their new presents very much. It was a wonderful Christmas in the fact that we spent it with loved ones and with friends, and nobody got sick! :) That was probably the best thing of ALL about the whole holiday! :)
Donna, I am glad that your daughter, Bethlehem, is getting better every day. PLEASE, by all means, keep us informed as to how she is recovering! I pray she makes it through!! As for the good news about Dwerlina, she is engaged to be married! She is engaged to her boyfriend, Antoine, and they are going to get married sometime next year, in the summer of 2007. They met at their job, and they fell in love at once; and he is a very nice young man...very caring and compassionate, and very well mannered. I know that they will have a very long and happy life together! It is obvious to me that they are very happy, and life is treating both of them very well, thank goodness! Of course, when I saw the ring, and herd the news, I CRIED!! I am so happy for Dwerlina! :)
The Christmas party at my job went very well; it was for staff AND family members, and it was held at the auditorium here. We all had a wonderful time, and we ate and laughed and just enjoyed meeting the newer staff member's families! We also had a Chinese gift exchange, and we got lots of coupons for Golden Corral, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Appleby's, Cracker Barrel, Popeye's, and other places, and we also got some coupons for the movies, and we also got some coupons for bowling and miniature golf. We also got some nice things: I got another raise from my superiors, and they also gave my family (and myself) a FREE two-week cruise to anywhere we wanted, so it looks like I will be checking up on some cruise deals for Alaska in the next few weeks and then make the reservations! :) So it looks like that I will be going on a cruise to Alaska sometime in the coming months or sometime early next year!! :) (We were originally going to go on a cruise this year to Alaska, but I gave the money we'd saved up to relief efforts for the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and now we are looking at a NEW cruise to Alaska!! :) ) This is going to be soooo exciting!! :)
I will be going now; I am at work, and it is about time for me to get on back...I only have but a half hour left of my break, and I don't want to let it get away to where I don't get anything to eat! I am sitting here in the cafeteria, and my stomach is growling; I know some of my co-workers mutt hear it because they are giving me strange looks!
