The 60th anniversary of the atomic bombings in Japan, was held on August 6 and 9th, 2005. In memory of the 270,000 people who died during and shortly after the bombing, members of the Great Vow Zen Monastery sent 400,000 images of Jizo to Hiroshima and Nagasaki – more than one Jizo for every human who died as a result of the bombs, each Jizo - from the heart of one person, to the heart of another.
The songs and art in this book are about our collective emergence after the pandemic and trauma of the last few years - comprised of 5 collections: World as Refuge, Where We Live, In Our Hands, Rhythms of Change and What We See & Sow.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
