Johnny is looking forward to Friday, February 10, 2006, because the Winter Olympics are starting in Torino, Italy.
Weds., Feb. 8, 2006 (The EVE of the Opening Ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Turino, Italy!! :) )~
Dear Journal~
Well, it is that time again, time where athletes from all over the world gather in a chosen spot for two-weeks of friendly competition, tests of endurance and strength and agility, sportsmanlike conduct, and (hopefully) nabbing a medal (or two, or maybe even three or four...*grins*). The Winter Olympics are set to start tomorrow in Torino, Italy, and the best of the best of what the world has to offer will be showing off their athleticism and talents to the world's audience.
I have always enjoyed watching the Olympics (particularly, the Winter Games). I love the figure skating, and I love the skiing; and I love the scenery. This year the Olympics are being held in Italy, and some of the best of our athletes will be competing. People like Sasha Cohen, Michelle Kwan, Bode Miller, and others will be in Italy to try to defend their titles from the last Olympics held two years ago in Salt Lake City, Utah (or to try for their very first medal). There will be world-class participants from powerhouse nations like the former Soviet Union, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Japan, and China, who are famous for putting out champion athletes who consistently bring home medal after medal in each Olympics that they participate in. But during the Olympics two years ago in Salt Lake City, our boys and girls proved to be tough to beat: they racked in a total of 33 medals, which is a record for any nation in the WORLD for medals! I am hoping that they do well in THIS Olympics; we have some great athletic talent, and they have proven to the world that they can compete with the BEST of the BEST! :)
If I could ever have the opportunity, I would love to try out for the Olympics. I would love to try skiing if I could use my legs, and I would love to feel the experience of schussing down a mountain on a pair of waxed skis, with the wind whistling frostily past my reddened face, or the wind screaming in my ears! I think that would be too cool! :) I would love to represent the United States in a Winter Olympics, and I would give it my all to try to bring home our nation a gold medal (although a silver or a bronze medal would do just fine, too! :) ). I would also love to try bobsledding (but knowing MY luck, I would be the guy to fall off or run into the side of the wall, thus, wrecking my chances of EVER medalling! LOL). But since I can't, I still can dream, and I still can participate in the Olympics by watching them LIVE (or taped!) on tv and rootin' for the HOME TEAM! :) I always get such a thrill in watching the Games on tv, and I always get such a thrill whenever friends send me stuff FROM the Olympics, like my friends from Finland did almost two years ago when they went to the Greek Olympics held in Athens. They worked there, and they were able to get some GREAT souvenirs from the games (even "pretend" Olympic medals! Imagine THAT!! :) ), so when I watch the Olympics tomorrow, I will have on my stuff from the LAST Olympics and my "gold medals" around my neck, and an American flag in both hands, as I cheer the U.S.A. on to victory!! Yes, I have a BAD case of Olympic Fever, and I am afraid that my case is TERMINAL. There is NO cure for MY Olympic Fever!! *grins*
~Love, your Olympic fan-friend, Johnny. :D *grinnin' like a cheetah* HEE!
P.S.: I have the date all wrong. It is only WEDNESDAY here; so that means TWO days BEFORE the start of the Olympics! (It IS the day before in Italy; so they don't have long to wait while WE have to sweat it out for TWO days! I only hope I can hold out that long; my Olympic Fever just may have fatal consequences! LOL)
Great covering of the olympic treats we will be viewing soon! Wonderful letter as seen through Johhny's journal!
ps you forget Karen a couple years ago my poem "We Were Twin storms" was when Karla fell in love with storm writes, and started doing them.;-)...love, Eileen
