Sari and Nikolas Constantinos, who live in Ivalo, Finland, are working at their second Winter Olympics, being held in Torino, Italy. They were at the last Olympics four years back, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Hai! Miitu kuuluu? Kiitos hyvaas! (Or should I be saying Ciao!?)
This is Sari Constantinos writing. Just got off from work, and I am TIRED. I worked HARD today and yesterday! My husband, Nikolas, and myself are working at the Olympics: we are working at the athlete's village, where we are checking the athletes in and out as they leave for their venues (or other activities). We got here the day before the Olympics wree to open, and we are still trying to get acclimatized to the time difference here.
Torino, Italy, where the Olympics is being held, is absolutely beautiful! The people here are very friendly, and they are glad that we are here. We have met some of the athletes from America, Italy, Greece, Finland, and Russia, and most have been quite nice!
We have already attended some of the games (the hockey game between Finland and Germany; Finland won 3-0; YAYYYY, FINLAND!! WHOO-HOO!!--, the halfpipe competition--an American with wild red hair won the gold medal! YAAAYYY, U.S.A.!!--, and the pairs figure skating competition). We also went to the Opening Ceremonies, which was nothing short of specTACular!! WOW! All those fireworks!! It seems that each time, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Olympics just get better and better!
The weather here is sunny, and rather coolish; it is rather warm for the winter sports, but the snow has stayed on the ground, thanks to the cold nights. It is really beautiful here, and both Nikolas and myself are enjoying ourselves emmensely!
I am starting to show; I look as though I have awallowed a basketball! Of course, Nikolas is thrilled: after all, this IS his child I am carrying inside of me! But the pregnancy has proven to be difficult on my MS. I have been having problems with double vision, dizziness, and nausea (caused by both the dizziness and the vision), and so I have had to cut my work time short and spend some time in bed, so I can get some rest. I have to be careful to pace myself. I have had to use a wheelchair because I have been so wobbly on my Lofstrans! Nikky has been taking extra good care of me; I feel like I am the baby instead of having one! LOL
Nikolas may take me out Tuesday night. It is Valentine's Day he said in America, and he wants to celebrate that day by taking me out to dinner. I am so lucky to have such a caring person in my life. Nikolsa Constantinos is everything that a girl like me could possibly want: he is sexy, courteous, caring, and good in bed (I CAN'T believe I said that just now! GEEZ, Sari, you are such an idiot! *Blushing furiously* LOL), and he takes very good caer of me when I am sick or my MS is flaring up. It seems funny we only met four years ago, and already we are married! We are also to have a family; everything seems to have happened so fast! It's no WONDER I am dizzy a lot of the time! LOL
In addition to working and catching some of the venues, we have been shopping. We have found some great souvenirs for my brothers back home in Finland and our friends in America, and Nikolas is now standing here, trying to make me laugh. He is succeeding: he is wearing a headband with long, blonde pigtails, and he really looks STOOPID!! LOL He is also making goofy faces, and it is all I can do to keep from SMACKING him in the puss! LOL He is such a silly! LOL I just wish I had some of HIS energy! I am so tired, yet he is rarin' to go, and it's like, "NIKOLAS, SLOW DOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWN!" LOL
Well, I will write in here again soon; take care, and will report from Torino, Italy, another day. Expect more Olympic happenin's from everyone's favorite Finn! LOL Until later, Nakemiin (or CIAO, as they say here!!)!

GOOOOOOOOO, FINLAND!! GOOOOOOOOOO, U.S.A.!! :)
Not a good day for the U.S.: Apolo Anton Ohno did not medal in his best event, and Bode Miller came in sixth. And Michelle Kwan has bowed out of the figure skating competition, thus, dashing her hopes for a coveted gold medal, due to a nagging groin injury that has hampering her abilities. The only bright spot was that halfpiper with the red hair who won gold for the U.S. Hopefully tomorrow will be a much better day for the U.S.A. I will find out the results for Greece and Finland; stay tuned for the results!
