Dr. Wright updates on what has gone on in his life.

This is Dr. Wright writing. I am finally back to where I can return to work. I had been very sick for what seemed like a long time, and for a while, I was on kidney dialysis. I am happy to say that my kidney troubles have ended for now and that I am off dialysis. I am still on medication for my kidneys, and I have to be extremely careful with what I do and eat. Part of it was due to my workload and not taking care of myself as I should.
I feel much better, but I still have my weak days, so I have to pace myself. My wife, Sarah, and my girl SueEllen have been taking very good care of me. The baby, Brooke, has kept me upbeat with her lively, bright nature, and I am indeed honored to have my family rallying for me. I also have to drink plenty of fluids (particularly water) to keep my kidneys functioning and I still have to catheterize myself every two hours like clockwork. (Ahhh, such as life when one has spina bifida like I do. My bladder and bowel functions are poor, so I have to take other means to do my personal affairs. 'Tis something I have always dealt with--no biggie.)
I sm still working at the hospital; I am just not working as many hours until I get my strength back. I have had to go to using my wheelchair more because the crutches have been bothering my arms and shoulders. I have been having pains in my arms and shoulders, and I have to report any changes to the doctor if the pain gets any worse. It isn't too bad now, it's just annoying as heck is all.
I had also been having headaches, but when my doctor checked my shunt function, everything was normal. It thoroughly frightened me; I know the problems of which a blocked shunt can cause, and I was afraid that my recent spate of health woes was attributed from that. But all came out clear, and I am sxtremely relieved. So is my wife.
My friends have been checking up on me, calling me every day and sending me cards of encouragement. I still wish I could work more than I have been as of late, but as I said, I just got over being sick, terribly sick, and I have to pace myself. It is a day by day process, and I just have to watch everything I do, let alone, EAT.
I do have some good news to report. My wife, Sarah, is pregnant with our first child. She is about a month and a half into her pregnancy. Soon she and I will have to break the news to our daughters. I am sure that little Brookie will be upset, knowing that she will no longer be the baby, but we will have to be extra supportive of her when that time comes. As for SueEllen, her older sister, she will no doubt be thrilled, incredibly so. I know I am! :) Hopefully we will end up having a boy, and hopefully he will be born without any problems whatsoever with his health. Right now that is the biggest prayer I have in my heart. I also have been praying for my health to hold out.
Well, that is about it for now. I will write more as things develop. I am sorry if I don't write as much as I once did, but I have been ill, and I am working, plus I have my family to take care of. I hope you understand the reasonings behind my delays.
