Dear Journal~
I am okay, but I am also a little depressed. Seems that this always happens whenever the Winter Olympics end. I have been enjoying the Olympics on tv, and now, after two weeks of non-stop competition, medals being handed out to the winners, and much excitement, they are finally OVER. Now there will be nothing but bad news or boring shows on tv; at leaat the Winter Olympics gave us a healthy atternative!
I watched the Closing Ceremonies last night, and I cried when the Olympic flag was carried out of the piazza (stadium) and when the Flame was extinguished. I did, however, enjoy the music of Avril Lavigne and Ricky Martin (but I saw no connection between Ricky's salsa-flavored music and the Winter Olympics!), and I enjoyed the fireworks booming in the Italian night sky as Ricky salsa'ed all over the stage. That was cool! :)
I also liked it when the mayor of Turino, Italy, handed the Olympic flag to the mayor of the city where the Olympics of 2012 were to be held. The mayor of Vancouver, in British Columbia, Canada, is in a wheelchair (he broke his neck while skiing when he was 19; he is paralyzed from the neck on down), but he has an incredible spirit and outlook. He runs the city of Vancouver, and I guess he is very popular there. That was moving when he was spinning his chair around, with the flag in his hands, and everyone was applauding like crazy! :)
Now the Winter Olympics are history, and I have to wait until 2008 for the Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. I DO like the Summer Games, don't get me wrong, but I am more of a winter sports fan, and besides, I am a winter baby (born in December, on Christmas Day, remember!). I have always loved winter, and I always will!
I am doing much better than my daddy at the moment: he fell last week during the ice storm, and he is still in a lot of pain. The doctor gave him some strong pain medication, and he has to stay home from work until his back heals. I feel sorry for him!
Johnny is doing well too; he has a girlfriend in Rebekkah Cohen. Rebekkah has had designs on him, and she thinks that he is the cutest thing around! He IS cute (I am NOT just saying that because he is my brother! *girns*)! I am glad for him, but I do think that thirteen IS a bit too young to be worrying about something like "LOVE"!
Well, other than the Olympics ending, Johnny having a girlfriend (HEE!), and daddy hurting his back, life is boring at best. All the more reason to look forward to October, when the family goes to Alaska on a CRUISE! :) I will be taking my second cruise in October, and this will be my second time to Alaska! I canNOT wait!! (Maybe I'll see more Northern Lights again; I surely hope so! They are absolutely AMAZING!! :) )
I will put this pitiful excuse for a journal entry to bed. I am about to go to my next class; if I don't stop writing, I just may be late, and teacher would NOT like THAT. (Neither would I! *grins*)

Poor thing, no more Olympics, but at least there is the cruise to look forward to and, of cours, spilling out the little things about Johnny! How sweet!!!

I enjoyed reading your journal this morning. :) I, too, hated to see the Games come to a close, but what a fitting tribute, the Italians skied to the last Gold medal of the competition. A wild spectacle, and those fireworks...ohhhhhh. Can't wait until 2010--see you in Vancouver, B.C.!
