A little dog with a big heart shares his inspiring story.

I am a very lucky little Fellow, if I do say so myself.

I am a little dog, weighing just five pounds, but despite my tiny size, I am all heart, and I make my presence known immediately once you first set eyes on me.

My name is Caeser. I am a little Pomeranian Dog, which is a member of the Spitz Family. I am known for my long, lush fur, and my glorious tail, which curls against my back. I am also known for my big eyes and my foxy-looking face, and my small, pointed ears, which you can't hardly see due to all my fur. I look like a powderpuff with four legs and ears; I am very cute, if I do say so myself.

I am red in color, and I have a very big Personality for my little size. I am known to bark at random (some Humans go as far as calling me Yappy!), and I am very protective of what I think is mine, including my Humans and my toys. I can be somewhat of a Nuisance according to my Human Daddy, but I don't think so: I am only warning them of danger or letting them know that something is amiss. I am only doing my Job.

My Humans spoil me rotten. I sleep with either Mommy or Daddy or the Human Kids, and they feed me wonderful-tasting dog food. They also give me vitamins and plenty of water to drink, and they make sure that I have to go to the bathroom, which I appreciate. They take me to the Doggie Doctor every time I am sick or every month for a checkup (I DON'T enjoy that!), and they treat me with respect.

They also teach me new tricks. My latest trick is tapping my Human's leg to let them know that I want something. I also know how to count to five. My owner Mommy will tell me to count to a certain number, and I bark the amount of that number. For example, if my Human Mommy says one, I will bark once. If two, I will bark twice, and if three, I bark three times, and so forth. I am very smart, and I am always happy at learning new things.

But I am not like most Dogs. I have three legs. I lost my back rear leg due to an Infection, and I nearly died; but somehwo, the Doggie Doctors managed to save me, and I eventually recovered. But not before I had to have my leg cut off. If I didn't, the infection would have only spread, and it would have more than likely killed me. So they had no choice BUT to cut my leg off. It was very traumatic for a while, but I soon recovered, and I learned that I could still do most things, even RUN, even with having three legs! :)

Because of my infection, I am not able to be in dog shows. I don't really mind, though: I don't like all those people staring at me or the long hours getting ready. That is for the Cats! LOL I am NOT a patient Pooch AT all, and I DON'T want to spend a lot of my days waiting to be looked at by a Judge, and all these people fawning or taking notes over me! That would be downright DEGRADING!

I am most happy just being with my Human Family and with my Doggie Friends in the Neighborhood. I even have a few Cat Friends, but MOST Cats, as a whole, annoy me to NO end! They are too noisy, and they act all mean and hissy if they see me. I don't want to think that I am going to hurt them because I only want to be a Friend to them! Don't they know that all I want to do is PLAY with them?? Boy, Cats are sometimes SO stupid!

Well, that is my Story. I will close for now; am gonna' eat some kibble and take a walk afterwards, then call it a night. I may be Disabled to most people (or most Dogs), but I am NOT disabled inside, and I still can have a very happy, rewarding Life, which I DO! :)

~"Caeser". :)

This was such a surprise! You know, how much we love animal stories, mostly if they are good ones (happy ones!). Such a lovely sweet little guy, and he is right about the dog shows, they are really annoying, more than cats even! A wonderful story; Oh, please bring more of these!
Lots of love and hugs, Birgit and Roger

Many animals are victims of accidents and natural disasters. I live a few acres away from a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and they had a bear cub which was in a forest fire, had it's paws all taped up. It is good that we have caring humans to care for our injured pets. Thanks for the letter today, Karen Lynn.
