Dear Journal~
Top o' the mornin' to ye (okay, top o' the afternoon)! I hope this finds you in fine fettle; me , I am sitting here at the annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration that our city is holding to celebrate the "wearin' o' the green". We have been here since three forty-five, almost three hours, and we are having a wonderful time. I am sitting here with my family, watching the floats and marching bands go by, and we will then head over to one of the stages, where my daughter, Ronee', will be performing at about seven thirty.
Today at work, a lot of my co-workers wore green; if they didn't they got pinched (not hard, but enough to make them pay attention). I wore green, too (I wore my kelly green scrubs, and I had my shamrock earrings adorning my ears, and a "Kiss Me, I'm Irish!" button. (I am not Irish, but on St. Paddy's Day, everyone's Irish! :) )
For lunch, I had corned beef and cabbage, and I also had noodles and green tea for my beverage; lunch was very good! Today was an easy day at work; very few emergencies to be had today. I got off work in a very good mood; of course, I had the festival to look forward to.
I was in a good mood because my son, Johnny, has made it through his testing, and right now, no news is good news. We are awaiting the results; they should be in sometime next week. Johnny has been having more weakness in his muscles, and his breathing is starting to become affected.
Johnny is also having trouble swallowing, and he has to be turned every two hours (and catheterized every four) because he no longer can do it by himself. It is scary to see him getting worse, but he has already surpassed odds pinned upon him by his doctors. He is a living, breathing Miracle child, and as long as he is alive, we shall enjoy him very much.
I heard from Donna Oliver in Georgia; for some reason, she is mad at me. I don't know exactly what he problem is, but she really upset me the other day. She accused me of favoritism because I only mention Johnny and Ronee'. Maybe I am guilty of this, but I think it is because Johnny and Ronee' were the first two children we adopted, and we have seen them grow from tiny, helpless babies to a pair of very capable young adolescents.
It is amazing just how much all our children have grown; it seems like only yesterday when they were tiny little babies! Maybe I need to cool off; maybe Donna needs to cool off for a while, but I don't like it when people accuse me of things!
The weather is perfect for the holiday celebration: pristine blue skies, highs in the sixties, very pleasant humidity levels. We will have a nice Saturday, and then Sunday, the rains are due to come again. Hopefully we won't get any severe weather with this approaching weather system; we had severe weather earlier this week, and it made me a nervous wreck! I am just glad we have a safe room to go to whenever severe weather threatens!
Well, I am going to get back to eating (and watching the parade), so I will go for now. I will write more later and let you know how the parade (and Ronee' 's concert) went. I will also write of the other Irish-flavored entertainment and the Irish goodies to satisfy our hungry bellies! Take care, and see you again soon!
Love, your friend, Louie May O'Sandusky (See? I told you everyone's Irish on St. Paddy's Day! *Grins*). :D
Nothing like a parade to make you forget your troubles, if only for a little while. A charming, entertaining write, very well penned; Happy St. Patrick's Day to you, too!
Nice to see her in good spirits! Can't wait to see Ronne's entry about Saint Patricks day. And of course, we hope and wish for a miracle for Johnny. Great write, Karen!
Lots of love and hugs (or would it be pinches today?)

" No news is good news " was one of my Mum's favorite sayings, she was Irish and very psychic, she could read me like a book !!, and on St Patrick's Day I always think of her....:)
I really feel for poor Johnny having to be catheterised every two hours, and equally for Ronee, with her regular and painful flares..at least they are still alive and kicking Karen...Thank God for small mercies...:)
And Hope springs eternal in the human breast...:)
Enjoy your St Patrick day's festivities...
Love and Blessings
Peter
