I am sorry for not writing in here, but I have been busy, what with my brood, my wife, and my job at Wal*Mart. I just don't have much time to do anything anymore, and at times I am past the breaking point. I am exhausted mentally and physically; it is all I can do to keep from falling over!
Tomorrow is a big day for us Sanduskys: no, we are NOT adopting a new child, but we are getting company from Sacramento, California, friends of my wife's. They will be staying with us for two weeks, "they" being Rebekkah Cohen, aged 12, and her aunt Louisa. Rebekkah is a Messionic Jewish child (she is Jewish by faith, but has accepted Christ as her saviour, and she and her parents celebrate the Christian holidays as well as the Jewish ones).
Rebekkah happens to be physically disabled: she has a little-understood disability that renders her unable to feel pain; if she isn't careful, she could really injure or burn herself (or develop an infection that has sometimes put her into the hospital). She recently had her leg amputated as a result of one such infection, and she is now hobbling around on a pair of crutches until she gets used to using her artificial leg.
Rebekkah has already nabbed my son, Johnny, as her boyfriend. She loves him, and she has been sending him mushy letters and presents. It is cute, but it also makes me sad because Johnny is dying, and there isn't much hope for his future. He may live to be 16 or so (or maybe later if there is a cure in the next few years or by some Miracle!), but right now that is in doubt because he has been exhibiting signs that his MD is getting worse.
For Easter we will be having our Cantata at our church, Christ Community Assembly of God, and we will be going out to eat at Fire Mountain afterwards. We will then go home and just enjoy the day with family and friends. My daughters Camey, Barb, and Tam will be working at their jobs at Fire Mountain and Golden Corral: they have to work, or they will be fired, according to their bosses. Such a shame! I don't think it is right: I think ALL businesses should be closed on a day like Easter or Christmas, not be open! That is rediculous!!
Well, we had some exciting adventures last Friday: we were under weather watches and warnings all day, and we spent a good part of the day in our storm shelter located in our basement. We made it through the storms without any problems, but we did sustain some damage (trees, branches, twigs, debris from surrounding houses, trash, etc.), and we did briefly lose power before the generators kicked it back on.
It was very scary, but it only got scarier when our daughter, Ronee', fell down the stairs (she lost her footing), and she sustained a concussion and a separated shoulder. She is doing much better now; still sporting a small egg on the back of her head, but the swelling has gone down considerably. (It was the size of a goose egg.) She is also wearing a sling on her arm until the shoulder heals. I am just grateful that it wasn't a lot worse than it was; still, it did scare us to see Ronee' lying on the floor, unconscious, and then having to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance.
Nwo the weather has settled; we may get another round of it tomorrow; so tomorrow we will be on storm alert and ask for God's Protecting Hand upon our area. I have had more than enough with this severe weather; it's been CRAZY around these parts! Sheeshamighty!!
Well, I have to work a double tomorrow (I won't get to go to the airport to see Rebekkah and Louisa come in, my wife will go in my stead), so I had better go to bed, so I can get plenty of shuteye. I will write in here again soon. Until then, happy Easter, and may it be full of blessings of the Risen Saviour! After all, HE is the Reason why we celebrate Easter in the first place!
