Louisiana hears from her friend in Alaska, who just became a father a few hours ago. His wife, Jenna Aurora, had a baby boy born several months premature.
This is the couple's first child.
Weds., April 12, 2006, Anchorage, Alaska~
Dear Louisiana~
You told me to get in touch with you when Jenna had her baby; so I am. Jenna just had our son several hours back, and I am very relieved, yet very scared.
Louie, you won't believe how tiny Mattaq is! He weighed just over one pound, and he isn't much bigger than a peanut. He was born blue and not breathing, but thankfully doctors were able to revive him, and now he is on his way to Anchorage Children's Hospital, where he will be under expert care. He will be in the NICU, and he will be monitored very closely.
Other than his tiny size, Mattaq is beautiful! He looks just like Jenna Aurora, but he has my thick hair (what is left of it, that is LOL), and he has my long fingers and toes. But he is built just like Jenna (petite), and he has her eyes, nose, and mouth.
I will be putting a picture of our son on this letter; he is all covered in tubes and wires, but I will be petitioning to Heaven for God to spare our baby. I know babies that small often have many problems and their survival rate is doubtful, but I am putting my full attention to the Cross, and I will trust in God completely and fully to get little Mattaq through these first uncertain days (months) ahead of him.
Jenna is now sleeping; the doctor had to give her a sedative when they took Mattaq away. She was so upset; it was all I could do to keep from crying myself. They said his bilirubin levels in his liver were rising and he was also starting to have some more trouble with his breathing, so they had no choice BUT to rush him to ACH. Now all we can do is pray, wait, and hope for the best for our baby boy.
I am going to try to get something to eat: I am starving. I will write more as soon as things develop; stay tuned! Just keep us in your prayers; that is all we ask!

So very touching. Such a tiny little thing! We so hope the little guy will be alright while we admire the strength of Michael Coucet. Excellent write!
