More musings from new father, Michael Doucet in Anchorage, Alaska, who is worried about his son, Mattaq, who was born four months premature and is now fighting for his tiny life.

Dear Journal~
I am sitting here with Jenna as she sleeps. She is home from the hospital, and I am trying to be a good husband to her. She has had an emotional few days, and she is so vulnerable right now; it is akin to walking on eggshells--you never know when she is going to start crying again.
Tomorrow we are going to see our son. Our amazing son is holding his own, according to the latest reports from the NICU staff at Anchorage Children's Hospital. He is breathing with the aid of the ventilator, his color is good, his vital signs are (somewhat) stabilized, and he already shows a fighting spirit in that tiny little body of his.
Tomorrow could be an entirely different day, in regards to Mattaq's situation, but I am offering prayers of desperation to Heaven, asking God to spare our little man's life! It will take nothing but continual prayers (and a Miracle from the Guy Upstairs) to ensure that this Miracle WILL happen and that Mattaq WILL live!
All we can do is hope.
I don't know what we will be doing the next few days (probably spend it at the hospital with our baby boy); it's all up to him (and to God).
The weather here has been sunny and coolish, with temps in the forties to fifties. We have seen seme amazing auroral displays (but thank GOD no red ones). Some of the displays have been nothing short of spectacular!
We have heard from Louis Sandusky in Tennessee; she has put our boy on the prayer chain at her church (Christ Community Assembly of God), and she has friends praying for us. She is such a caring person with such a compassionate heart, and we are so blessed to consider Louie Sandusky as one of our friends!
Well, Jenna is stirring, so I will tend to her, try to get her something to eat. I will keep in touch with y'all so you can know exactly what is going on with our baby Mattaq. Hopefully he (and we) will get through the upcoming weeks (months?) without any unforseen catastrophies!
I am leaning on the Cross on that note. It is all up to God now; it is out of our hands.
~Michael Wayne Doucet (father to Mattaq Michael William Doucet, aged 2 days). :( >tears<
Sad, but with fighting spirit. The prayer chain is a strong link in the game of life and because of it, this will pull the baby Mattaq through this little tunnel of Light and the aperture will widen with his each breath and Light will pour all around, charging him with the breath that he needs to survive. Thanks for the letter today, Karen Lynn.
Michael sounds like a wonderful husband, and if little Mattaq lives, will be a terrific father. Beautiful journal entry. I like, very much, that he's leaving it up to God and relying on Him for strength. We should all lean on Him, in good times and bad. He will never fail us....anyway, again, great write.
Noiw that is the way a husband and father should act. Wonderful write Karen! The tension along with hope and prayer, show this family is a caring one. I hope it goes well with them!
Excellent sentimensts, Karen!

Post Natal Depression is a curse for any new mum, but Michael should take heart, it is only a temporary phase, and will soon pass !
Yes indeed baby Mattaq is showing extraordinary fighting spirit, which is a pre-requisite for survival, his future is in the Lap of God, and will come down to our prayers and intercessions..:)
This is another exceptional journal entry in your professional and very interesting pens, Karen !
Rock on !
Love and Blessings

A poignant story about letting go of a narcissist in your life. Have you ever been attacked FULL force by a narcissist? It's the closest thing to being stabbed over and over in the back.
