A father in California is missing his daughter, who is on vacation in Tennessee with her aunt.

Another take on a different character created by Michelle Kidwell. Michelle, this is for you. Enjoy, and happy Easter! :)

Sunday, Aprl 16, 2006, 1:21, D.S.T., P.T. (can't sleep; too quiet here)~

Dearest Rebekkah~

I hope you are having fun with Louisa there at the Sanduskys; I hope you are behaving yourself. Not that you have been any trouble, mind you, but ever since the amputation, I can't help but worry. You have gone through so much in the past sevreal months.....I hope you understand.

Mamma and I are doing okay, but it is too quiet. I miss the sound of your ringing laughter and watching your slim, lithe body as you dance arabesques, plies, and pas de deuxes. You have a gift from God; I am sure that once you get used to your new "leg" and become more proficient at walking, you will be dancing again.

I have complete faith in you, Rebekkah. You are a determind young lady, and I am extremely proud of you.

It sounds like from your exuberant letter that you are having fun there in Tennessee. I hope you had fun last night at the Grand Ole Opry. I am a little jealous of you; you and mamma made it to the Opry before your old man! LOL How was it, and who did you see? I can't wait to hear about it!!

I hope the Cantata at your friend's church has been going well; I wish I could be there with you, but I know you needed a break from all that has recently gone on in your life.

Rebekkah, I can't get the image of you lykng in that hospital bed, hooked up to a whole myriad of tubes, out of my mind. It is amazing what a little bug can do to a body if it gets out of control. Before you took sick with your last illness I had never heard of "necrotizing fasciitis". Just the name of it is enough to evoke terror in our hearts now, and we were so scared that we were going to lose you. It is only by a Miracle that you survived, and even now I can't talk (or think) about it without tearing up!

I hope and pray that you never have to go through such a horrible nightmre like that ever again!! We almost lost you, baby; that is why Mamma and I have been so overprotective of you!

Maybe this Easter will have more significance to you (OR me) because in a way it is a New Birth, a new Resurrection from fear and uncertainty, as you continue to work your way back to independance.

Honey, I know those crutches (and the prosthetic leg) are a bother to you right now, but if I know you, Rebekkah, you have such a strong spirit that refuses to be broken, and you amaze your mamma and mysefl with your courage. You are probably one of the bravest little girls I know, and we just love you more and more every day because of it!

How is your...boyfriend...that little boy you have such a crush on doing?
(Still hard thinking my little girl is growing up.)  I think that is ownderful, but it also makes me sad because that means you are turning into a young lady; I wish I could keep you a little girl forever. You were always such a delightful child, and you always smiled, even during all those difficult visits to yet another doctor as we searched (and continue to) search for answers as to why you don't feel pain. I hope you and Johnny are having fun, and speaking of the Sanduskys please tell your other friend, Ronee', that we say hello and that we miss her too! We think of her often!

I wish I could take the pain of your Johnny's sufferings away, but honey, I am not a doctor, nor a magician. It is all up to God; what he has is not your fault or mine (or his). It's just a terrible fluke of nature that Johnny has DMD and that his future remains cloudy. But we can hang onto the hope that a cure will be found; soon little boys like Johnny will be able to rise from their wheelchairs and walk/run again! I know it must be hard to see him getting weaker and weaker; there isn't a darn thing that can be done about it!

Rebekkah, I am glad that you are there for him. Johnny needs a friend right now, more than ever; you are the medicine that he probably needs. You will also benefit from a child like Johnny because it can teach you compassoion and how to care for others less fortunate than yourself. You can see that there are so many people who have it far wrose than you, and on your bad days, you need to remember that!

It is still raining here, and I am wondering what is going to happen if it doesn't stop. I hope and pray that all this deluge ends soon! No flooding here yet, but if it doesn't end soon, there will be. I am more than ready for it to go! Is it raining there? If not, maybe you can send some of that Tennessee sunshine with us wet folks here in Cali!! *grins*

Well, nearly two o'clock here in about fifteen minutes, and I had better get back to bed before Mamma wonders where I have wandered off to; I was missing you, and had to respond to your beautiful letter! You take care of yourself, tell your Aunt that I say hello, and have a most beutfiful Esater Sunday!

And one more thing: save some of that Easter candy (not to mention, an egg or two) for your old man and lady! LOL

I love you like crazycakes!

Yours until the rubber ball bounces,

Your daddy. :D

Yeshua bless!

great write, Karen. I am glad you enjoyed the first half of the first chapter of the novel Michelle and I are writing. Expect the second half of that chapter tonight or tomorrow night! We are really smokin' on this project. Had we both not been falling over about to fall asleep at 2am my time this morning, chapter 1 would have been completed last night! lol. It's wonderful beyond belief to be writing again. I have been going through a long dry spell for more than the past 6 months. Hopefully this will be the end of that!
