Dear Donna~
Congratulations on the arrivals of Miracle and Marisol into your growing family! How wonderful!! I bet you are thrilled to pieces!
I know how it is whenever a new child joins our family. No matter how many times we experience it, the joy and excitment never goes away; it isn't long before the child is assimilated into our family unit! I am so happy for you I could just cry with joy!!
You will have to send me a picture of the girls when you get some made. (I'll be waiting...LOL)
Honey, I know it isn't easy to deal with a child with significant disabilities. It is often wrought with frustrations galore; it is always a guessing game when you try to communicate with your child. However, there are ways to do it. You can read your child's eyes or facial expressions. They can make sounds, and their sounds can easily tell you if they are happy or sad. This is how we can "read" Jodie and Todd and know exactly how they are feeling. (Now, Jodie can talk some, which makes it a lot easier, but Todd is silent. He hasn't made a peep since we got him. *grins*) It may be a hard, long road, but it can be done with patience (plus an awful lot of praying! LOL).
You can help your daughter (Marisol) further by enrolling her in an effective therapy program or by hooking up with other parents with special needs children. You will find out that you aren't alone; many people go through what you will face in the future. I will keep you in prayer; I pray you get the strength to get through the uncertain days ahead.
The weather here is cloudy: we may get some storms later (hopefully none will be severe), thanks to a cold front that will traverse through the area later. I hope it cools off there (warm weather doesn't really bother me; I am a Cajun; I was born in Louisiana; so I KNOW heat! LOL)!
Our company has arrived here, and we are having a ball with Louisa Mason and her niece, Rebekkah! We have gone to the Grand Ole Opry (we saw Loretta Lynn, Little Jimmy Dickens, Jimmy C. Newman/"Cajun Country", Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, and many others; much to Rebekkah's disappointment, her favorite--Reba McEntire--wasn't there), we have seen the movie "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown", we saw gospel group the McGruders at our church, and we went to the Easter Cantata. Add to this, a trip to the mall and several trips to Fire Mountain for some good eatin'. YUMMM! LOL
Saturday night we are going to the Grand Ole Opry again. Yep, we secured tickets for that performance, too. :) We may see Reba there; we never know who will be at a particular Grand Ole Opry show; that is what makes the Opry so exciting! :)
Rebkkah and Louisa will be here until sometime next week. They are on break for two weeks. Our kids will go back to school next week too. They have been having a ball from this school hiatus, and every day they find new, imaginative ways to get into all sorts of mischief. A mama like me always has to be on her toes to deal with this crew! LOL Life is never dull here at Sandusky Acres! LOL
Well, the kids are starting to rise (I hear the sound of Ronee' 's canes clumping on the kitchen floor [her shoulder is about healed]), the electrical whirr of Johnny's wheelchair traversing across the hallway, and Jodie mewling in her bedroom--oh, LORD! What was THAT! I think someone fell down the stairs; will have to see who it was and if they are okay! God, life is never dull here! LOL See you; God bless!
