Honey-Chere', I wish I could sneak you in my suitcase when Bill and I go to Mexico, but I am afraid the immigration officials (not to mention, the ship personnel) might get a tad annoyed~ So I am afraid I will have to say no. (I WILL get you something from Mexico, so don't worry! I will even get something for your boys! :) )
I am dreading the hurricane season myself. What if we have another Katrina like disaster? We obviously aren't prepared. I think the government mishandled it as badly as did the agencies and the policticians in Louisiana: nobody escapes blame, and it is a situation for which we Americans must try to rectify and make sure that it doesn't happen again.
We should hang our heads in shame. We could have helped those poor people, but no--like many times before, we turned our backs on our most neediest citizens and stabbed them in the back. Such a unfortunate situation; but unfortunately, this is how the main majority of society views our poor, elderly, or disabled: they are nothing more than trash to get rid of. They aren't worth anything to our greedy, money-hungry society--let's get rid of them and pretend they don't even exist. Sad!
On to more pleasantries: how is the weather there in Tampa/St. Pete? Here it is sunny, but we may get rain by tomorrow. I hope it doesn't go severe; I don't like severe weather, and this year has not been kind here, as you are already aware of. Too many tornadoes or storms for my comfort; I am more than ready for all this wild weather to end!!
Yes, you are right: I DO thrive on chaos. It is a life I wouldn't trade for anything in the world: our kids mean too much to me, and so do my husband and my parents! I am glad to report that all persons in my immediate family are well, nobody has gotten sick or has had to go to the hospital emergency room. THAT I can be very grateful of!! God has been very good to our "little" family, and I pray that it continues!!
Betty, where on earth did you find such an adorable picture? That is too cute!! I love kitties; they are so precious without working hard at it! It's no wonder so many people love kittens (or puppies; how can anyone NOT resist one? I know I can't!!) We have cats and dogs here, and they bring us Sanduskys no END of joy! Yessir, God must of been smiling when He created puppies and kittens! :)

Wonderful informative and loving letter, Karen! We should all be praying that another Katrina doesn't happen, but along with the prayers the people themselves have to be prepared to get out on their own, because if anything of that scope happens again no government anywhere in the world can handle such enormous devastation, even if they are better prepared. They may do better but it still won't be enough.
