I am sorry I haven't written in a while, but you know how that goes...LOL
I am doing much better emotionally. I am still working hard at my job as a RN, but I have had my hours trimmed (at my request, not of my boss's doing). I have been spending more time with my family and with my writing, and things are getting done.
It also helps that in a little over a month from now, my hubby, Bill, and myself, are taking a cruise to Mexico. We are going on a five-day Carnival cruise to Cozumel and Playa del Carmen, and this is going to be our very first time in Mexico. We are looking forward to it, and we are looking forward to time away from the children.
Speaking of children, we have heard from our counselor; she called to tell us about a little boy in Russia who is currently in need of a home and a family. He is seven years old, and he is totally afflicted with cerebral palsy. His name is Vlademir Aleksander, and he is the cutest little thing: he has red hair, and he has such a charming smile! (Our adoption counselor sent us a picture of him today, and we immediately fell in love with little Vlady!)
As much as we would love to take Vlademir in as our child, we will have to do some heavy duty praying and talking with friends and other family members, to see what they think. So another child may be in the offing for us; who knows? (I personally hope we get Vlademir!)
The children are all well: nobody has been sick or in the hospital (knock on wood!), but Ronee' fell a few weeks ago and hurt her shoulder. She is okay now, but she gave us a few anxious moments when she knocked herself unconscious and gave herself a nasty little concussion!
The Easter Cantata went smoothly; the only problem that ensued was when the power died during the wrong part of the Cantata. Thankfully, the lights came back on a few minutes later, but it scared quite a few people (including yours truly!). There were no unexpected goof ups, and everyone was in top form. I was proud at how many people showed up to participate, and I was especially pleased to see over two dozen people come up to the altar to give their lives to Christ. That was probably the best part of the whole thing! :)
We had company from California: a young girl (aged 12 1/2) named Rebekkah Cohen and her aunt and cousin. Rebekkah is a Messionic Jew (she celebrates all the Jewish holidays, but she also celebrates Christian-based holidays like Christmas and Easter, and she believes in salvation and being born again).
Rebekkah is recovering from a recent amputation of her leg (she is now walking on crutches, but hopes to be off of them soon), and she has such a cheery atitude about her! She is in lvoe with my son, Johnny, and the two of them got along famously. They hit it off immediately!
While Rebekkah was here, we went to the Grand Ole Opry (twice), and we took her to see the movie "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown", which we all enjoyed. We took her shopping and bowling, and we also took her out to eat at both Fire Mountain and the Golden Corral. In addition, we saw the McGruders, a gospel family singing trio from Missouri, the day before Good Friday, and we all enjoyed ourselves emmensely.
Rebekkah had one of her dearest dreams come true , and I was glad to be a part of it. She got to meet her favorite country singer of all time, Reba McEntire. She got to have her picture made with her and everything; she got so excited she burst into tears! Reba didn't mind, though: she just hugged Rebekkah and told her that she was mighty sweet. Rebekkah was beside herself with joy and sheer excitement!
I am still writing my emails and writing future stories for books that I will do in the future. I have a whole set of ideas runnin' around in my skull, and my muse has been red HOT lately! :)
Well, I will go now; it is very late (or very early in the a.m.; take your pick!), and I am going to be a basket case at work later! I will be yawning my head off by noon, and I know that once I get home from work, I'll hit the bed to take a nice, long, luxurious nap while my husband tangles with the kiddies! LOL Take care, and God bless!
Karen, when I read about power dying, I laughed myself silly - in Africa power cuts are such a normal thing. Lol. So normal that people just go on with their activities as if nothing has happened.
Poor Vlademir and Rebekkah. Louie has such compassion to take these angels under her loving wings - bless her heart.

Cerebral palsy is a curse, like all these deadly diseases...
Pray to God for remedies to be found for these devastating illnesses !
