Hi! I am having fun! I am at the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival here in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and I have been going every year since I was small. I enjoy the scrumptious Cajun delicasies, and I enjoy the Cajun music which is heard continuously on upwards to five different stages. You also can hear country/western, gospel, rock, pop, even rap at the Crawfish Festival, but the main musical fare is Cajun.
Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, is right in the heart of Cajun Country, and it is known for its Cajun flavors in the people and in the surroundings. At the festival, you can have anything from jambalaya, gumbo, suace piquante, etoufee', boudin, and audouille. You can have crawfish done a million different ways, and you can learn to play a Cajun instrument or make different crafts.
My favorite thing about the festival (besides the food, that is) is no question: the music. I can hear and see some of my very favorite Cajun music acts, and for the past three/four years I have performed at the Crawfish Festival. Tonight I am performing (I go on in about two hours for about forty five minutes), then I will be seeing Belton Richard, who is one of my very favorites. My brother, Johnny, is going to be performing a few songs with Belton's band, and I am looking forward to that.
I have been doing a lot of dancing at the festival, and boy, are my legs tired! Oh, well--it's been fun! *grins* I haven't danced in quite some time, and it feels terrific to be able to kick up my heels without being in severe pain!! :)
I know this isn't long, but I am going to get something to eat before I go on stage so the crowd doesn't hear my tummy rumbling in the microphone. That would be embarrassing! LOL Take care, dear Journal, and God bless you always!
