Dear Jennifer~
I got your e-mail today; I am afraid that I will have to discontinue writing to you because of your animocities towards disabled children and adults, and also towards Christians.
There is a reason for everything that happens. I don't believe that God wants a person to be born with a disability; I believe He allows it because as it states in the Bible, "through weakness, we are made stronger", and He does it as a means to test our faith. He uses the disabled as a way to teach others about human nature and to see if we can learn to trust in Him.
I think you are angry because of something that may have happened to you or because of what happened to your neighbor's son. You were scared because you weren't familiar as to why he acted the way he did, and you thought you were doing the right thing in voicing your concerns. I can understand that, but now the couple has to live with the fact that you may have (in a small way) contributed to his situation, and now you are carrying a heavy burden inside.
As for your feelings towards Christians, we are only doing what god commands us to do: that is telling others about His Love and that His Son (Jesus) died on the Cross for our sins. He died on that Cross as the Ultimate Act of Love; He died because of man's continual living in sin. Many people rejected Him (many still do even today), but God also gave man an opportunity for Salvation and a chance of freedom from sin. With God, you CAN live a happier life and you CAN turn away from sin. God doesn't care where you are at in life. He loves you so much, even when you feel you are not worthy of it. You can be a murderer or a criminal of the worst kind, but God loves you anyway because you ARE His Child.
He created you, and if you decide to choose Him, He CAN take away your past and transform your world in ways you cannot even BEGIN to imagine!
Just because we may have accepted Christ into our lives doesn't make we Christians "perfect"or "holy". Oh, no, we are far FROM it. We are human beings too, just like those who are NOT of the Christian faith, and as much as we hate to admit it, we make mistakes. Christians end up falling back into their sinful ways because of poor decision making or temptation, and we sometimes forget God. But that is okay. As long as we remember to repent to God when we make a mistake, then He forgives us, no questions asked. All we have to do is ask, and He will do it.
I do think that you need to talk to somebody--NOW. Your husband, your parents, even friends or professionals would be more than willing to listen to you talk about your feelings. Maybe they can help sort out the confusion you are currently facing. It would do you a lot of good, and you'll end up feeling better about yourself and about those people who are closest to you.
Jennifer, do you want me to pray for you? I believe in prayer, and I have seen things work out because of it. Yes, there have been times when God says "no" a lot of times, but He has His Reasons. He has told me "no" a time or two, and in time, I find out the reasons why behind His Decision-making. If you want me to pray for you, let me know. I will be more than happy to do so.
Well, I will go now. We are getting ready to go out to eat. We are going to Chili's for supper, as a way to celebrate the end of school. (All the children passed. :) ) I will write to you again if you would like (but ONLY if you work on your anger and try to do some of the suggestions I listed!). Blessings to you and your family!
~With regards, Louie Sandusky. :(
