Sent by a cousin, who happens to be single and the same one who researched our family history, now gracing pages 96 and 103 (I'm in there on both pages) of the July 2006 Issue of Ebony Magazine. (Article: Black Family Reunions Go High Tech.)
Duties of a Wife
Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had given their new wives duties. The 1st man had married an Asian woman and bragged that he had told his wife she was going to do all the dishes and house cleaning. He said it took a couple of days but on the 3rd day he came home to a clean house and the dishes were done.
The 2nd man had married a White woman. He bragged that he had given his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and the cooking. On the 1st day he didn''t see any results, but the next day it was better. By the 3rd day, his house was clean, the dishes were done and he had a huge dinner on the table.
The 3rd man married a Black woman. He boasted that he had told her that her duties were to keep the house clean, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the 1st day he didn''t'' see anything, the 2nd day he didn''t see anything but by the 3rd day most of the swelling had gone down and hecould see a little out of his left eye; enough to fix himself a bite to eat, load the dishwasher and call a landscaper.
Gotta love those Black women!!!!

Love those, here's what'sgonnahappenwhenwe'remarried deals. My story's a little different, though--
At the time, my hubby owned a cleaning business, which I naturally helped with, so he boasted his would be the cleanest house around. He also made it clear he'd be doing the spaghetti sauce making, because I wasn't the only one who could whip up a mean sauce! In fact, there were several dishes he said he could do as well as, if not better than, I could.
Kind of irked me, but okay. Who's going to grouse about one's spouse helping out in the house? Taking on some of the dinner detail? Eh? Not me!
We've been married now for heading into 24 years. The only time our house is spotless is if I've resolved to do all that cleaning. Or if I've pitched a fit about being Slave Of The World, and launched a "who's mess is this really?!" speech. The old, a family is a team, and I seem to be the only one playing on it! whine. Or-----if I've transformed into the Wicked Witch of the West... Last resort, but hey, it works---sweet talking doesn't. They all absorb it and ignore it.
Spaghetti sauce? Is still made exclusively by me. He hasn't made an ounce of sauce in 24 years! He and the boys will fend for themselves on Every man for himself days, but cook for the whole family? Hahahahahahahaha!
"Hon...!!!"
"MOO--OOMMM!!!"
Congrats on having been in EBONY!! Gotta be a wonderful feeling!
