Dear Journal~
Hi. This is Johnny writing.
I am afraid I am not in a good frame of mind right now. Right now I am having difficulty breathing, and I feel as though I have been socked in the stomach with the news that daddy (and mamma) have shared with me.
Mamma is going to California; she is going to be with Naomi and Micah, Rebekkah's mamma and daddy. Rebekkah is back in the hospital; she developed another stupid infection in her leg, and as a result, she ended up having to have her leg amputated. The doctors told Rebekkah and her parents that if this wasn't done, she would more than likely die; her leg was starting to turn black, and she wasn't getting any blood flow to it. After many tears and talking back and forth, Rebekkah made the painful decision to have her remaining leg amputated.
Daddy is sad about the news too: he took the day off from his job so he could be with me and take care of us when mamma leaves (in about an hour); she will be gone for at least several weeks to be with the Cohens. I am glad that mamma is going to help Naomi in her time of need, but right now I need her too! After all, Rebekkah IS my girlfriend; who is going to take care of ME when she goes?? Who is going to be MY support system?? :(
It was also a bad day yesterday. Mamma ended up missing church because the hospital called her in to work, and mamma ended up staying all day. When she got home, she said that the E.R. was a nightmare: there were at least four people who had heart attacks, a woman who was shot during a drive-by (she was shot mulitple times, and right now she is hanging on by a thread, according to doctors), several car wreck casualties, two bee sting victims (a boy got stung in the mouth when he drank a Pepsi, and unknownst to him, a bee who had been in the can when he drank the Pepsi, and an older girl--Ronee'--she is going to be okay, thank goodness, but she looked like a China man with her swollen face! LOL She got to come home several hours later, thank goodness!), a near-drowning, and because of the heat, at least six people suffering from heat-related illnesses.
Mamma didn't end up getting home from work until at least four in the afternoon yesterday. When she got home, she was wiped.
I don't know why Rebekkah has to go through so much in her young life. She has to live with a little-understood disabiltity that causes her not to feel pain; and if she should hurt herself or burn herself, she wouldn't be aware of it until she got an infection and got sick. Which is what happened with her legs, and now she has to live without legs for the rest of her life.
She will have to use prostheses (or a wheelchair) for the rest of her life, and she has known much suffering. She then met me and she realized that she didn't have it as bad, but now I am beginning to wonder about that. She has no legs. I still have mine; they just don't work all that well, and my disease will only get worse. Rebekkah at least will have a chance to resume her active lifestyle once she recovers from her surgery and has her rehab. I don't. She will grow to be an adult; and unless there is a miracle cure in the next several years, I can kiss my grown up years goodbye! :(
Well, I have managed to depress myself, so I will go now and feel sorry for Rebekkah (and myself). Life is not good for the Johnster right now, and right now I need some crying time! I will go because for one thing I can't hardly see for all the tears that are falling from my eyes; everything is blurry! I will write in here again soon, but right now is not a good time! So on that note, bye!
Totally sobering write, Karen, which you have done so empathetically and with just the right emotions and tone. There are no words to answer this one... I feel wiped having only just read it. Some souls have almost impossible weights to carry but their stories are a "support system" for the rest of us and there is NOTHING more inspiring than the bravery and resurgent optimism of youth... and, yes... Johnny will bounce back inspite of the excruciating pain... because his spirit and soul will be renewed. Whatever age he lives to, he will be a fully-fledged and totally valued, priceless human soul that will do more than its fair share of work in terms of building and nurturing others who journey along a similar path: special beyond belief and beyond words to express. Bless you and thank you for charting the stories of those such as Johnny et al. LOL Kate xx
Sad news indeed...but as long as there is life, there is always hope. Once this episode is behing Rebekkah, and she becomes comfortable with her prosthesis, she can resume a normal, happy life. Not letting depression steal her joy will stand her in good stead. One way or another, she must stay on top. Others will be inspired by her courage. My best to the family!
God Bless
Lena
Sad news, indeed. :( Glad Ronee is going to be okay (even with her "China face). The boy DRANK a BEE? Ow. *cringe* A warning to use plastic pop bottles instead of cans, perhaps? Excellent write.
A page-turning novel about a relationship between best friends that is interrupted because of betrayal , deceit, sexual promiscuity and pregnancy happens!
A poignant story about letting go of a narcissist in your life. Have you ever been attacked FULL force by a narcissist? It's the closest thing to being stabbed over and over in the back.
Suspenseful and close to home, Rain of Deception 2 will leave you in Tears. Much like Part 1, this will shocking sequel will keep you on the edge of your fingertips.
