Louisiana's next door neighbor, Maria Johnson, writes to let her know how her oldest child, Opri, is doing, after he was rushed to the hospital yesterday morning. The news is not good.

Dear Louie Sandusky~
This is your next-door neighbor, Maria Alana Johnson, mama to Opri Rabon and Jacquelynn Maria Theresa. As you are probably aware by now, Opri was rushed to the hospital yesterday morning by ambulance, and I am sure you are wondering what is going on with him.
Well, the news is not good. His remaining kidney has shut down, and he is on dialysis again. He will eventually need a third kidney transplant before too long, and it may very well kill him. He has been very weak and sick lately, and this is why you haven't seen much of us because I have been indoors, trying to take care of Opri's needs and also Jacquelynn's needs. Of the three of us, Jackie is probably the one who is doing the best: she may be blind, but she can take care of herself. She even helps me with Opri!
Opri's primary kidney doctor, Dr. Ghupta, and also Dr. Emmons, his primary physician, both say that if he doesn't have the kidney transplant, he could die in as little as a few weeks, or if he DOES have the transplant, it could very well kill him. His body is ravaged with the toxins caused by his failing kidney; this is one reason why he has been so sick. Now his liver is failing, and he has been having some problems with his breathing. Everything is happening at once, and I am scared, Louie, very scared!
I don't know what would happen if I were to lose Opri! I know we have been down this same road many, many times before with his health, but the truth of the matter is, he is my child, and I don't want to lose him! He has been so much with his health, and he has shown great courage in all this. In fact, he has been doing better than me, his mamma, at times! LOL
I am not normally a religious person (you know that), but you have prayed for Opri before whenever he has needed it, and I greatly appreciate that. I wouldn't mind for you to pray for Opri again; he really could use a Miracle about now!! Or better yet, could you pray for Jackie and myself? I'd appreciate it!
Louie, if you want, you can see Opri at the hospital. He is currently in Intensive Care at Nashville Baptist, hooked up to a whole myriad of tubes, machines, and whatnot. He is currently in a drug-induced coma so he can rest and heal from this latest medical crisis, and even though I have seen this image of my child lying helpless and unmoving in a hospital bed, hanging onto life by a thread, it is still difficult at best, and I fear for him. He is in a very critical state, and time is of the essence.
I will keep you up to date regarding Opri's medical status, but right now, I don't know what to say or think. Things are not looking very good for him right now. Any time the phone rings, I jump out of my skin, fearing the worst. I hate living like this; how do you cope with this whenever one of your children is sick and/or in the hospital??
