Johnny, back from camp, writes to his girlfriend in California after she has written to him.

Dear Rebekkah~
Hi! This is your boyfriend, Johnny! How are you doing? It sounds like that you are doing quite well, and I am glad that you are handling all the bad stuff as well as you are. I wouldn't do as well--any little thing that happens, and I fly off the handle! I worry so much; it's a wonder I don't have ulcers (let alone, wrinkles)! LOL
I am doing okay; I got back from camp last Friday. I had a wonderful time at muscular dystrophy camp, but I lost three buddies of mine, so I am a bit depressed. Their deaths hit me hard. It is a reminder of how serious my disease really is, and it makes me think of my own mortality. Scary stuff!
Speaking of muscular dystrophy, I had my tests at the MDA clinic here in town; had to have MRI's, EMGs, spinal taps, the whole nine yards..I still hurt now, and it's only been two days! I will have to have a muscle biopsy done next week, and that will mean a few days in the hospital. Yuck. I hate those! Please say a prayer for me, that I get through the biopsy, and that I get through the hospital stay! I hope my disease isn't getting worse!
Ronee' is grounded too: she sprained her ankle yesterday. She was running around the backyard and she stepped in a hole. Her ankle made a loud "pop!", and down she went. She immediately started howling in pain, and she couldn't get back up. Daddy took her to the e.r.; they thought she broke her ankle, but she only sprained it.
She will now have to use her crutches again for a week or so, until her ankle heals. She is now in the house, taking it easy, and she has an ice pack on her ankle, which is swollen to beat the band.
Mamma and daddy and the rest of the kids are doing better than Ronee' or me, thank goodness.
Oh! Guess what! We are adding another kid to the family, a little boy from Israel! His name is Gabriel, and he will be coming by Christmas (but he may be coming earlier, thanks to all the fighting going on in that part of the world). I will be getting a new brother! I am so excited!! I got a new brother last month from Russia, name of Vlademir, and he is a cutie! He has cerebral palsy and can't walk or talk, but he is still a great brother! He is always smiling, and he has adjusted well to his new home in America! :)
How is the weather there in California? Here it is hot, and the only time we get relief from the heat is during the afternoon, when we get pulse thunderstorms (thunderstorms that form in the heat of the day and dissapate when the sun sets; it is very common in summer to have these). Then, when the rains leave, it is more humid, and it is sticky. Thank GOD for air conditioning; I don't know what people did to keep cool before air conditioners were invented! That must have been miserable!! Sheesh!
Poor Texas has been in need of rain since I can't remember when. They are in a severe to extreme drought, and it doesn't look like it is going to break any time soon. They have been in the triple digits down there, and I feel sorry for all those toasty Texans! I am glad I live here in Tennessee; at least we get rain or a break from the heat here!
Mamma is writing to a new penfriend in Texas with her adoption community. She heard from her yesterday; she will probably write to her later on today when we kids are in bed or when she is on break tomorrow at her work. Mamma does a lot of her writing during break at her job or during the night, when we kids are in bed; she is a regular nightowl! LOL
Well, I will write to you again (probably after I have my muscle biopsy test and after I get out of the hospital!). Take care, my dear Rebekkah, and know I love you with all my heart! Write again when you have the chance; I'll be waiting for your letter!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your boyfriend in Tennessee, Johnny. :D
Karen, always newsworthy, these letters. Good to hear Rebekkah is doing better. Hang in there, Johnny, I pray for better times for you, too. Thanks for writing...
