A friend in far northern Alaska writes to Louisiana. She was thinking about her, and she decided to write to her.
Weds., August 16, 2006, Barrow, Alaska~
Dear Friend Louisiana~
Please forgive me for not writing, but I have had a spell with my multiple sclerosis, a spell that's affected my vision. I couldn't see straight, and it was everything I could do to keep from falling over from sheer dizziness.
Thankfully, though, that has passed. I can see again. Now the stupid M.S. has started affecting my walking. I am using my wheelchair exclusively, and it's a lot easier for me. I don't have to mess around with my crutches or worry about falling nearly as much.
With the "colder" weather on the way in a matter of months, I guess that will mean being relegated to my house. Oh, well--I don't mind, really--You know that I have always been shy, reserved, a loner.
Now you know what is new with me. The only times I've been able to get out lately is to go to my doctors' appointments. (Hmm. Makes one appreciate their health when things go wrong, doesn't it? *grins*)
How are things on your end? How are the children? Bet they are getting big! How is Johnny? I think back to the time when he ventured to Alaska last year, when he (and Barbara) came to see me, and I am now suddenly missing him like crazy! Please tell him that I am thinking of him and to drop me a line!
How is Bill? Is he still working at Wal*Mart? Are you still working?
I was also thinking about Ronee'. I am looking at the drawing she made of the northern lights; I seriously think she ought to enroll into art school when she is older; she'd make a fantastic children's book illustrator! Tell her I say hello too, and for her to drop me a line!
The weather here is nasty: cold and raining, temps in the lower forties with a gusty west wind. I have a fire roaring in the fireplace today, to try to ease my achy joints nad muscles. Is it hot there? I have been hearing about the terrible heat; the Lower 48 has sure been baking lately, hasn't it? Makes me break out in a cold sweat just thinking about it! I don't know how people can live in climates where the air temperature is past 60 degrees: for me, 70 degrees is enough to melt me into a puddle! LOL
I saw Jenna Doucet a few weeks back when my brother Mattaq and myself took a two-day excursion to Anchorage. What a little cutie her boy is! He looks just like Jenna! He now weighs nearly 6 pounds, and he is getting bigger every day, according to Jenna! His health is fine: the only thing is he has to wear a monitor when he sleeps, but other than that, no worries. So far, the Great Spirit has been watching out over him! :)
Well, friend Louie, I am going to close. I am getting sleepy; the warmth of the fire is causing me to get drowsy. I do hope to hear from you soon; please write whenever you have the chance. I miss your lively, chatty letters!
May the Great Spirit bless you and your beautiful Northern Lights Family!
