Dear Jenna Aurora (and Michael)~
Hello! I was sitting here, answering some e-mails, and I started thinking about you, wondering how you were doing, when I decided to write, so--here I am! :)
So far, I have e-mailed Eileen Weston in Texas and Louisa Mason (and Kendra Williams) in California. I have yet to write to Sikik Eegeesiak in Alaska and Sari Constantiinos in Finland. I heard from Sikik on Wednesday and Sari just yesterday.
I am tired: I have been working lots of overtime these past few weeks, and I have been trying to take care of my family--in addition to running to and from the hospital. Johnny had a muscle biopsy done on Monday evening, and he is doing okay, but he is a little sore. We are currently awaiting the results of that biopsy; no news is good news, as they so often say!
Johnny will be coming home tomorrow (Saturday) or the day after (Sunday). He is in good spirits, but we are worried about what the results of the biopsy might show. Please be praying hard for Johnny (and for us); we can really use your prayers! Thanks!
How are Michael and Mattaq? I heard from Sikik that Mattaq is getting big (nearly six pounds now!) and other than having to wear a monitor when he sleeps, he is doing great! :) You will have to send us some new pictures of the wee one! :)
Speaking of kids, we are getting ready to add a little boy (six years old) to the family. Yes, you read right: we are adopting another one! :) We will soon have 55 children! :)
The little boy in question is named Gabriel Abrahiam. He is, as I said, six years old. He is coming to us within the month from Israel. He has seizures, but to what extent, that isn't known yet; but we are more than willing to take him in and help him with any challenges he might face. He was supposed to come to us in December, around Christmas, but with the turmoil currently going on in that part of the world, there was no other choice but to get him out of harm's way as soon as possible.
Ronee' has had her share of worries lately. She sprained her ankle a little over a week ago; she is hobbling around on crutches. She also lost a close friend eight days ago (he died of kidney failure), so she has been quite depressed. She is going into the eighth grade next month, and she is wondering what kind of teachers she will have. She is not as concerned about her physical health (as she has been in the past); she is more worried about her hair, her complexion, her size, her odor--you know, the "typical" teenaged girl "things"!
Ronee' did get some good news, though: she has worn orthodontic braces on her teeth since she was nine years old, and she finally got them off yesterday. Her teeth, once misaligned, are perfectly straight, and they were (surprisingly enough) free from any new deterioation or cavities! She is very happy about that, as you can imagine. This is one less thing for her to worry about! She has been doing an awful lot of smiling, and she is enjoying her freedom from the braces on her teeth! :)
Well, Jenna, I will go now. I am at work, and I am fixin' to get something to eat before my growling stomach causes people to stare at me. They are looking at me, giving me weird looks, and it is a tad embarrassing! LOL
Take care, Jenna, and give my love to Michael and Mattaq! Tell them I say hello! God bless you too!
Write when you can; I will be waiting for your letter!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tennessee, Louie May. :D
P.S.: We have been watching this show on NBC called "America's Got Talent". Well, last night, the winning act was revealed, and we feel that the judges (and the people) made the right decision. A young powerhouse of a singer (aged 11) won; her name is Bianca Ryan, and she has a voice that doesn't quit! She is amazing! We were so happy for her! She deserved it! :)
~Louie.
P.P.S.: Ronee' tried out for that show before it went on the air, and she got so nervous beforehand, she threw up on the stage. We felt bad for her, but we were proud of her for trying out; she did good until she got sick! LOL I guess it wasn't meant to be; her nerves got the best of her. Happens to the best of us from time to time! LOL
Thank you for sharing this gorgeous literary tapestry sewn so beautifully with the pain, joy, hunger, compassion, voices, and daring of life in the real world as we know and live it in 2006. A great read Ma'am.

Karen your letters are so real, so filled with everyday events and spilling over with life and care and often there is so much love and warmth, a wonderful gift!
Love and Hugs, B&R
I don't think that even Florence Nightingale could have written a more comprehensive, compassionate notation of the lives, loves and happenstances of her daily charges. I always am made to think, consider deeply and to count my blessings when I visit your page, Karen. And THAT is good, good, good... like your diaries. Bless you and thank you. Kate xx
Let this coming of age story of a boy named Bean take you back to a simple time. Set in a small southern town in the 1960's, encircled by a river and gleaming white cotton fields.
The familiar lament of dual-career parents raising children is, "I just can't do it all." The Libra Solution provides an alternative - a more satisfying and sustainable work and life approach - to the overwrought modern day norm.
