One of the beautiful things about growing older is we gain the benefit of wisdom. That, in turn, allows us to make smarter choices. As for me, I'm smart enough not to believe in love at first sight anymore. One reason being, I don't see quite as well as I used to. I'm also smart enough to be more discriminating in my taste.
When I look back over my younger days, I realize I spent too much time craving the wrong man for all the right reasons. Can you relate? Think back for amoment. How many times did you ignore someone's red-flag warning because you were head over heels in love with the idea of being in love? Or worse yet, how many times did you mistake lust for love? How often did you justify or simply overlook his faults and irresponsible behavior because he was a smooth talker? Did you ever just settle for someone because you felt like you were pushing old maid status and all of your girlfriends were already married? It's called being "hard-headed" according to my mama. I went through that.
No actually it was my ex who had that problem. You see, back then, I saw many early warning signs as to why we shouldn't get married but I was so sure he would change. During the heat of an argument once, he had the nerve to tell me that he was warned by one of my very own relatives not to.........

Lol! Yes, I'm sure we can all relate! I always blame it one this thing God gave women called "hope". We always hope he'd change, maybe he will leave the remote control and help with the dishes. maybe he will leave find a job ... and we'd finish all that complaining with "but I do love him." Lol. Pathetic huh?
When older you learn to be patient and appreciate and acknowledge your self-worth.
Yes Lord, can I relate! There was a time in my life where I felt I needed a man to complete me, and yes, I settled for the sweet talker who swept me off my feet - then promptly sat down and let ME take care of him. I went for it because all my friends were 'hooked up' and I felt that 'old maid' syndrome coming on. Never that again! Maturity has finally settled in and I now know that I am WORTH the wait, my King is out there somewhere, and God will deliver him to me - in due time.
