Johnny writes in his online journal, to let his friends know how he is doing. He is excited about his upcoming Alaskan cruise, the arrival of a new little brother from Israel, and other things.

Dear Journal~
Hi! This is your friend, Johnny, writing!
I am sorry if I haven't written sooner, but lots of things have been happening to me. I had some tests done a few weeks back (I had them to see how my MD was progressing; miracle of miracles, I am still hangin' in there!), and I was in the hospital for several days. That was not fun, getting poked and prodded like that, but I made it through, and it all came out very well in the end. :)
I have a cruise to look forward to: next month, the family is going on an Alaskan cruise. Maman won the cruise last year at her Christmas party at her work, and we are all going! This will be my second cruise--and my third trip to Alaska! I can't wait; Alaska is so pretty! :)
In addition to the cruise, I have a little brother to get to know once he comes home from Israel. Maman and daddy are adopting another child, and it is a little six-year-old boy named Gabriel Abrahiam. I have seen pictures of him, and he is really cute! I just hope that he doesn't cause any problems, and I hope that we can get along with him once he gets used to us!
The summer here has been hot, but fall is soon coming (next month, about the time we go on our cruise!), and so I have cooler temps (plus school) to look forward to. I am going into the eighth grade, and I am kinda' nervous. I hope the kids don't make fun of me when they see that I use a motorized wheelchair to get around! Some kids really have a problem with that, which really bugs me---
I did lose some friends over the summer, though, so I have been depressed. Some of my friends died from their muscular dystrophy, and so I missed them at camp. I also lost a neighbor to kidney failure (Opri Johnson, who lived next door), and that has made me sad.
I have been writing in my journal from time to time, as a way to cope with my grief, and it's helped. I have also been doing a lot of praying and meditating as I read the Word, and I find that it helps me in a lot of different ways. I feel better, and I am happier now than I was.
I am going to go now; have to get ready to go out to eat. We are going to Fire Mountain for lunch, and then, perhaps, a trip to the movies or the mall is in order. I hope so; I am bored out of my gourd. I need some excitement in my otherwise humdrum life!

I am constantly awed by the courage and cool equilibrium of one so young who has not only his own deteriorating health to wrestle, but the stark reality of his dying and ailing friends as well as his own mortality. It truly brings tears to my eyes when I appreciate what some have to go through. Yet his naturalness and boyish joie de vivre... even boredom!! - are full of spirit and vigour. God is no respecter of age or persons and I am so pleased that the beauty of his Truth and comfort can instill confidence even among comparative babes.... In fact, like little children are talked of Biblically, they are often shining testimonies to faith and grace. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to bringing us these precious journals. Truly a journey of the soul for each one of your readers, too. Bless you, LOL K xx
Hi Karen, This is nice...I like the flow and I see happiness coming through. Exciting times are ahead for Johnny and the family. That's terrific. Will look forward to reading updates to the journal--cruise to Alaska; school etc.
