Louisiana Sandusky finally gets around to writing to her next-door neighbor, whose son died several weeks back at the age of thirteen-and-a-half. (Opri would have been fourteen on September 11th.)

Dear Maria Alana~
Please forgive me for not writing sooner, but words don't come easily for me. I think of Opri, and I can't help but to cry.
Opri was a very special youngster, and he will be missed by all who knew him. He was a brave young man who taught the world about courage in the face of overwhelming odds, and he will never be forgotten!
Is there anything I can do for you? Is there anything you need? How is Jackie coping? How are you coping? That is what I would like to know!
I hope you don't think I am being rude in ignoring you, but I have been busy. Between working extra hours, trying to get the children ready for school (school starts next week, on Tuesday), getting children to doctor's appointments, sporting events, and whatnot, time for me has been severely constrained. Add to this, my adoption community, trying to answer my flood of e-mails, paying the bills, and church doings. I am hardly ever home, it seems, excepting on the weekends! Whaaaa! LOL
I have been having a very difficult time trying to face you, Maria. I find it hard to communicate with you. I know you are grieving for Opri, and I can fully understand if you don't want to talk. I do want you to know that I know, too, of the pain of losing a child. Remember, I lost three children! I still cry years later whenever I think of Aron, L'Acadia, and Pierre. I miss them even now, even after all these years (particularly on their birthdays or on holidays like Thanksgiving, the Fourth of July, and Christmas)!
If you want to talk, you know where to reach me. Take care, Maria, and know you are in my prayers! May God be with you during this time of sadness!
