The Body Dies, The Spirit Lives On.
Born; April 8, 1998 - Departed to Heaven; May 25, 2000
The hospice nurse arrived soon after I did. She called the funeral home, then reported to various agencies.
Rick and my husband got home about the same time, and ran into the house. They knelt beside his crib as tears came. We had been told he was going to die, but we were not totally prepared for the impact the death of a little child brings. It hurrendous, earthshattering. Our daughter and her children came to see Josh . They had all helped care for him too.
We all prayed, held him, then said good bye. HE was so white and cold!
We wrapped him in a blanket, and put him in his infant carrier. Rick and Jessica carried him to the hearse, and placed the carrier in the front seat with the driver. Tears rolled down our cheeks as the hearse drove away.
He was gone and he'd never come home again. Our grief was overpowering!
Joshuas's funeral was a celebration of life. We believe that we leave our earthly life and go to a heavenly
one. There was a large framed poster of pictures depicting his short life. Flowers, donations, expressions of sympathy poured in. Doctors, nurses, friends and family paid their respects to the little boy who wad fought so valiently to live.
There will always be a tommorrow for Joshua. He is truly one of Gods Angels, and he resides in our Lords heavenly home.
He has been gone six years now.I still miss holding, loving him. I miss the human presence. Some nights I still awaken thinking I hear the sound of a little squeal. He's always in my heart, and always will be. Love trancends death. I feel his spriit, his love and I realize how blessed I was to be a special part his life.
Your last paragraph says all that needs to be said...Love does transcend death. How blessed you were to be a part of his life, short as it was...
Next week we will celebrate our sons birth and death dates of 13 years ago. It is always a bittersweet time...sweet in remembering that he was a part of our lives, yet bitter in that he is not here with us.
May you continue to have peace in knowing that he is in God's arms.
So beautiful to be blessed with his memories that will always be MaryGrace. Thank you so much for asking me to read this, Through tears as I read i thank you for sharing a special Angel with me.
A celebration of life: what a beautiful way to look at death! Joshua touched all who knew him, who worked with him; an angel of the Lord, your little Joshua. Thank you for sharing him with the rest of us who were not blessed enough to know him...but now we do, through your words of pain and sadness. Well done, and again, I'm sorry for your loss.
I love this story about your son. It has helped me in so many emotional ways. I told you before I am the parent of a severely disabled son. He also has CP, FT, Seizures, and profound MR. He survived all odds and is now 20 years old. I will share more in the near future. However, there are two things I want to share with you. Thank you for. I was never able to write about my son beyond my own personal journals because I felt that would be like writing his death and I was too soft inside to reveal my pain, confusion, hurt. I love my son like crazy and always fear that I would go totally bonkors if he passed. I was even angry at God for allowing me to love my son knowing his life on earth would be short. I was afraid to love my son. However, I did. No matter how tough I had to be to get through the hundreds of storms, I was always afraid this would be it. Anyway, I'm gonna jump ahead to share my second thought: because my son was suppose to never talk, I prayed for a way to communicate with him. I needed to know how to love him, care for him. He very, very rarely frowned and that would fool you if he was 'sick.' For instance, one day while feeding him through his GT, I immediately noticed the formula backed up the tube and was blocked. Long story short, we took my son to the E.R. and it was discovered that he had a bowel obstruction and his bowels had already began leaking into his blood stream. He was not expected to make it. That was at age seven. The point to his not talking (complaining) or frowning is that EVERY doctor, nurse could not believe he did not cry. No fever. No typical signs of such a poisonous fate. The only time he grimaced or wimpered was when the blood people had to take blood to prep him for surgery. He sailed through surgery against all odds!
Here's the catch to my long point, sometimes I heard my son making similar noises that you described. I would become animated with him and it was like he has his own way of talking to close family and friends and caretakers. I was thus inspired to write this poem that I want to share with you today:
Miraculously swimming the deep blue sea
Talking to God who talks to me
Speaking in tongue avoiding capture
Turbulent waves spawn His rapture
Secretly calling aloud to Thee.
Nobody but God commanding the waters,
Buoying through gravity exceeding all borders,
Majestic creatures, unbelievably unmute,
Servants of the Lord, obediently cute!
I am so sorry for your loss for the whole family how tragic. Joshua has won his Emmy I belive death is our Emmy for living life. Some of us live short lives he was here for a reason and he now is in peace and living out what he is ment to do. He is an angel and he is closer now to you then ever. I belive are soul lives on and knows all and becomes closer to us.
Thank you for sharing this story true story I know it is not easy to share but it is also healing for you to share.
Thanks Hugs Angela
