You might be surprised to find an actual letter from me.
I am sorry for not writing back, but lately life has slapped me, hard, and my letter-writing got away from me. I am sure you aren't the only one; I still have at least 25 e-mails to catch up on before I am "officially" over the mountain. This is why I am now writing to you, to let you know that I haven't forgotten about you.
I have had a recent spate of bad times befall me, plus I was very sick. Thankfully I am all recovered; the sickness took a lot out of me. I had a virus that came upon me during the last leg of our recent Alaskan cruise, and as a result of this virus, I lost a lot of weight. I did need to lose weight, but this was not the way to do it! I hope never to have anything like this again; once was more than enough!
In addition to that, a friend's five-year-old (adopted) daughter was kidnapped (and was later found murdered). My heart grieves right along with the Cohens because I personally know how it is to lose a child. (I lost all three of my own children, and I lost a niece nearly two years ago, and I lost a foster daughter to AIDS.) It is the worst thing a parent can ever go through.
I was unable to go to the funeral, but I did send the Cohens a funeral bouquet for Daniella, and I sent them a sympathy card, plus some cash, to let them know that I care. This family has been through so much it has been unreal! I am relying on the Lord to get me through this; it isn't easy!
I did start answering some of my e-mails. I have written to Wyndi Storm Piestala (Arizona), Kendra Mae Williams (California), Eileen Marie Weston (Texas), Naomi Cohen (California), and now you. This is the most writing I've done in a while! LOL
How is the weather there in Florida? Still warm? Here we had rain blow on through, but now it is a pleasant, partly cloudy day out. The leaves are past their peak color; they have now turned brown. It has turned quite chilly out. Tonight's forecast lows are supposed to be in the forties. BRRR! Time to break out the longjohns and the blankets, kids! LOL (Plus turn on the heat!)
I have been busy working; in fact, one day this week, I ended up working a double shift. One of my OB/GYN nurses went down with the virus. I was supposed to have gotten off at my normal 2:00 in the afternoon (I come in at six in the morning); I ended up working until 7. By the time I got home, I was beat! Thank God the bosses gave me the next day off; I needed it after that double! :)
Bill has been busy working, too, but he took a few days off to take care of me whan I was sick with the virus. Wasn't that sweet? He took very good care of me, and I thank God he or the kids didn't get it; that would have been a national disaster! LOL
Well, BJ, this is all that is new here. Let me know what is gong on in your world. I am ready for some news! :)

Karen! What can I say that hasn't been said already? You are a terrific letter writer. You always have so much to share. I have a few letters to write, but what to put in them is a problem. Know what? I think I'm going to adapt your style, if you don't mind. :)
Another reality letter that opens the vision of these peoples lives in a distinctive and real way. We all have our share of problems and these letters allow us to see and appreciate that we are not the only ones. Well done.
