Louie in Tennessee writes to her Texas friend. She heard about the bad rains they had there, and she is wondering if she is okay or had any flooding.

Hello! Thanks for your letter; sorry for not responding, but the letters from other friends are coming in fast and furious, and I am trying to answer them as best as I could. Got a little behind (but then, that is nothing new! LOL). I hope you understand.
I am sitting here in my office before I go on my break, and I have the Weather Channel on. I saw that your part of Texas got inundated with rain (plus my sister, who lives in Burleson, called, to say parts of Burleson got flooded. NICE.). I heard parts of Texas got upwards to four inches or more of the wet stuff. I bet there was a lot of bamming and banging out; I wouldn't be surprised if y'all lost sleep due to the heavy storms traversing across your area.
I pray you are okay, and I pray that you didn't get any flooding. My sister didn't (miracle of miracles; but down the road there was). She did lose power for a few hours, but that was the worst of it. I am glad the rains have moved on!
Here, the weather is going to turn wet by tonight. We may get the heavy stuff here, but nothing like y'all did down there in the Lone Star State. Hopefully the low will have weakened somewhat by the time it reaches the Nashville metro area.
How are you doing? I am doing quite well. Am busy with my kids, and my husband is busy, too, plus we have been working hard at our jobs. I am currently at work myself, but I am firing off an e-mail before I head on out for break. (I get an hour's break at work, which gives me time to eat, or write, if I can do it. *grins*) The kids are all at school, and they are doing well academically and socially. They are very popular with the teachers and the other students, which pleases me greatly.
Now it is November, and now is the time to think of Thanksgiving and getting the kids' Christmas wish lists ready. They have already been dropping hints, and I have already started Christmas shopping. (I started in August, actually, but now I get into the thick of it, when things start to go on sale; it is wise for a woman of a big family like mine to take advantage of any sale! *grins*) I will also get our Christmas cards and get those done before the first of December. I love to do things as early as possible; that way, I can actually relax during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday season! :) )
I know you will probably be mad at me when you read of my starting my Christmas shopping, but hey--when you have a brood like mine, you need to shop early, before all the good things disappear! LOL I think it is the smart thing to do! :)
I love this time of year: it may be gloomy-looking inside, but inside our place, there is plenty of love, family togetherness, time with the Lord, and joy to keep us warm, and we also have a fire roaring in the fireplace most evenings. The kids have plenty of toys and supplies to keep themselves entertained, and we try to spend as much time with each child as we can. It can get next to impossible at times, but we do it very well. Our kids are our world, and we try to be there for them any time.
We may be having some foster kids come here after the first of the year, but it isn't carved in stone yet. We heard from the foster placement agency, and there are two brothers, ages six and eight, who need placement with a family for a while. The boys are from Mississippi, and they are Hurricane Katrina evacuees. They are staying at a shelter here in Nashville, and the foster care director says they are withdrawn and shy. Hopefully we can work with them and let the boys see that we do care for them and offer them some hope in their shattered lives. I will keep in touch with you as soon as I learn more. Pray we get the boys! That would be wonderful, not only for us, but for our entire family!
We already had some foster kids here, and they adjusted beautifully; I am happy to report that all have been adopted into "forever families,", and they are all doing well. I still get letters from them from time to time, and it always warms my heart to see that they would actually take the time to write to me and let me know how they are doing! :)
Well, Eileen, I am going to go now; my stomach is rumbling like I have a thunderstorm going off, and I am about to start eating the paper on my desk, I'm so hungry! LOL Take care, and do write when you can; I'll do the same. Again, I am sorry for the delay; forgive me??

This is nice, Karen. I can see excitement building with Thanksgiving and Christmas not far away. I haven't visited the Den for a couple of day, so I'm behind with my reviews. I'm trying to get caught up now. Take care, Karen...keep writing. :)
Louisiana's heart is big as the world; I bet if she could, she'd take in all of the lost and unwanted children.......the rest of us could learn from her love and compassion; well done!
