Here is another peak at a part of my book. I hope you enjoy it.
"Why was I so scared?" Linda asked herself. Tonight she would make a special dinner for Charley. In that way she would thank him for the beautiful picture frame and she would afterwards show him the statue. "Their guardian angel!"
Then she went back into the attic to see what else she could find in that wonderful cedar chest. This was better than Christmas. Among other things was an old family bible. The front page had a note on it. It read:
"To Harmony from James. Presented on June fifteenth, 1895. Happy Golden anniversary! You have given me love and companionship which has made my life a happy and fulfilling one. I will love you for eternity. May God smile on us forever. May we share his love with everyone we meet, endlessly."
Andorra had not even seen that. She was only slightly surprised when she found herself in the stratosphere again. Harmony smiled and congratulated her for her imagination. She also explained when asked that she was in fact the Harmony referred to in the note written on the bible. Andorra was not surprised by that.
"You see?" Harmony added, "You can become this couples guardian angel. You have what it takes. Love! My James is also a guardian Angel. We didn't have to deal with Satan and he can never touch us because we are protected by God. You can be, too" She quickly added. "You must get back. Mordrid is coming." With that Andorra found herself in the attic with Linda. It was time to act. Mordrid read her thoughts as being dismal. Linda had found her cedar chest and now she had to come up with something else.
"Oh don't be so gloomy," he said with a mocking grin. Andorra again encouraged that he was fooled by her act.
"What are you going to do with a polished stone?" Mordrid asked. There was an ironic grin on his face. He knew, or at least thought he knew her answer already. In this case he did.
"I'm not sure. More than anything I just needed to get rid of Arty," Andorra confided.
Mordrid accepted this answer at its face value but Andorra went on to explain.
"He was agitated because Linda didn't see the picture right away and his disturbance was to distracting. I couldn't think with him rambling on so."
"Fine, keep the fool busy and he won't cause us problems. You are a smart lady. But you must be careful this young lady is going to be hard to scare from now on. She suddenly has become very spiritual minded. I'm sure you noticed her pick up a Bible from that cedar chest." There was something about the way he said the word "bible." Andorra was quite certain there was fear in his voice and she now understood why.
"So what," she scoffed, "I can use that to scare her, too." She turned and looked into his eyes with a menacing look which caused him to change the subject after one last statement.
"The writers of that book are our worst adversaries. Do not let yourself become to cocky. It could lead to your demise." Then he paid her one last compliment.
"Your idea of keeping Arty busy is a good one. He will be great at running useless tasks for you. If he is kept busy he can save you time and trouble and keep himself from trying foolish stunts that could lead to his eternal destruction."
Mordrid disappeared with those words. Andorra realized that she could feel Mordrid's presence leave her just as she could sense his arrival before he summonsed her. Harmony had told her she would soon be able to even read his thoughts with practice. That had come without practice. Now he couldn't even come or go without her knowing it.
She suddenly thought of a possible mistake she may have made, though. Actually, she had noticed Mordrid thinking it earlier. The fact that she told Arty to bring that stone into the attic was dangerous. However when she pulled her stunt about the bible his nervousness caused him to forget. He was indeed afraid of that book.
