Lighting the Way
Imagine a world without love
A world totally full of hate
No compassion left to share
Just a feeling of ‘it’s too late’
The world once had a beginning
Now soon it will have an end
‘Cos what happened in the middle
Left us all without a friend.
When man turned against man
Destroying each other at will
They forgot one simple thing
That time can not stand still.
The seeds of hatred were sown
Into our children we all hold dear
Then we sat back and wondered
Why they never did shed a tear
For the harm they caused to others
And the pain they felt themselves
As they killed the world around us
Leaving nothing for ourselves
But a barren wasteland of no hope
Where all the reserves have gone
A dying and desolate planet
With nothing left for us to live on.
Luckily the future isn’t yet written
So there is still a chance for change
By teaching our children differently
Our tomorrows we can rearrange
We should all shine a light of love
For the whole of the world to see
Showing compassion to all mankind
Is the beginning of true harmony!
